If it's the one I'm thinking of, the early C/K1500s had that crappy little square Pontiac Sunbird factory stereo, then you either:
A: Spend about $20 on an install kit from Metra/Schoshe/etc... and lose that little square thing
or
B: Install your new head unit waaaayyy over on the dash in the DIN opening where the Cassette tape player goes (or went)

89 silverrado is where the radio-adjust part goes over top of the AC-heater unit right?

but the actual radio is underneath the dash...

Unscrew-remove the radio from underneath the dash and you will have to run the antenna and the harness to the right side of the dash where there is room for a DIN kit.

www.metraonline.com model # 993000 and you can get the box to go where your old radio was over your AC controls its like #88003301...
