ya usualy there is a sand pit at the end then after that usually a safety net but a wall come one, what were they thinking. i thought he was going to be fine until the very where s**t went to hell. R.I.P. i remember back in the day watchin him at my local track a while ago.

ok, so after talking to some people i know with nhra and these are purley speculations i have this:

blower backfired about 1000 foot mark
engine exploded due to excess fuel, knocking scott unconcious.
car keeps on rolling through sand pit, safety net and eventually into wall.
car blows up again.
scott made it through all this, he was still alive, but passed away at the hospital.


no doubt this will raise questions about safety. this is the 2nd death in top fuel funny car in 15 months.
yes, the shut down area is short, the wall is there to keep cars from running into traffic pass the trees, that land is not owned my english town. but, this will bring new techonlogy into the sport. so many things have been learned from previous crashes and used to make the sport safer. i just hope that his family makes it through this difficult time and that the world reconizes scott and the whole kalitta family as a legend in the sport.

thats kinda what i tell my troops. anyone who is willing to risk their life for their country and leave their family behind for months at a time earns my respect.
