So the swap is going in sometime this next week, it'll be ran on an obd2 si ecu. The thing I'm looking for next is a set of CTR cams, but as we all know - they have to be tuned. Well, directly after the CTR cams is boost.. so i'm looking at what's the best option for both? I plan to get a used greddy kit (for sake of simplicity installation wise), but I know emanage is s**t anyhow. So I want to pick up a good program for the cams that I can also use later on boost. I was considering Hondata, but that shits expensive..

Any input?

NOTE: The car has to stay obd2, I do not want to run obd1.

Why does it have to stay OBD2?

It takes 10 minutes to convert the car back for inspection/emissions.

have you looked into power fc? mine is on order right now and i've heard alot of good things about it and since my tuner only tunes on power fc its easier for me/him

have you already talked to a tuner about tuning a obd2 ecu? cause i know alot of tuners here wont even tune obd2 cause they dont want to do the extra work to tune obd2

Well, that's why I'm looking at options for obd2 first and if I have to go obd1 then it's just something else to consider before I venture down that route..

Any more info on the power FC?

more info on power fc
http://www.apexi-usa.com/product_electronics_detail.asp?id=197&pageNum=1

basically the power fc is a standalone management ecu(also helps to get a avcr)

i like it cause you can tune three different boost set ups on the same map
so for example you'd tune a daily driving boost(7psi) on one setting, 12psi on another and, and 20 on the next

the tuner will tune all those on one map so that whenever you change the boost you wont mess up the motor

also i think the avcr is one of the best boost controllers out there, and it looks cool too =)

All you have to do is unplug the conversion harness and plug in your stock ecu.

Just make sure you have stock injectors, primary and secondary o2 sensor and that will get your car through inspection.

All other sensors should stay the exact same between obd1 and obd2 cars.

I have done this for the past 4 years on my 97 hatch.

I just take out the 880s and the 3 bar map sensor and put the stock injectors and stock map sensor in. Then just throw in a OBD2A LS ecu to run a B16 to get it past inspection. The car should still drive just fine.

Yeah that shouldn't be a big deal for you at all.

I'm curious to why you'd want to use an ls ecu though, just because they're cheap?

keep in mind when running a power fc you still have to unplug it and run the stock ecu just the same as converting to obd1.

power FC doesnt not pass obd2 inspection, it merely just uses the factory connectors. effectively it is no different than running an obd1 ecu.

it takes 5 minutes to switch from obd1 back to obd2 for inspection. when you are boosted you will have to switch back to stock injectors and map sensor if you arent using the stock map, so total maybe an hours worth of work once a year.

Because my car came with an OBD2a LS swap and it will run every B series motor without throwing a code.

Okay, so then as far as staying obd1 - I've used uberdata before and liked it. Is that what everyone recommends?

i used to vouche for uberdata... until i say neptune, then from neptune i started liking s300.

honestly find a tuner and ask him what he tunes with and go with that, unless youre tuning it yourself

I agree with this.

But you can't go wrong with NepTune. That is what I use to tune with on almost every car.

Hmm.. good to know. I've got the conversion harness & blank p28. It's just a matter of deciding on what program to go with.

I ran Neptune on my turbo d16 and loved it. For the price you cant beat it, it has a few more features then the basic hondata at a better price and you dont have the hondata box laying around. When i get some more cash i plan on getting my ctr swap tuned on neptune.
