started my turbo build today

ordered the following parts...

vitara pistons and rods $500
ARP head studs $115
AEM fuel rail $75 (steal on eGay)
skunk2 cam gear $105

had trouble finding a legit camshaft. does skunk2 even make a y8 camshaft? i couldn't find that s**t anywhere, they were all b-series. whats a good alternative?

also, what other headwork/internals needs to be done that i'm forgetting? i'm only looking to push about 5-6 psi.

oh i meant to put it in this section and idk how to delete the other thread.

but in reference to your other post, i'm wanting a turbo camshaft. i found a crower stage 2 camshaft for $280, has anyone had any experience with these?

you dont really need a stage 2 cam. usually with those the valvetrain needs to be upgraded. i think blox makes turbo cams as well. zex may also im not sure.

would the skunk2 stage 1 work well with it? i just want my s**t to last for a long time...

i dont think you would have any problems with it but if your upgrading you might as well get a turbo cam instead.

eh...id search around for people with the the same motor who is turboed, so you can get a idea of what you need

already did haha. i know what i need, just having trouble finding what i want. so i'm just asking for good alternatives and if i'm forgetting anything basically. this is my first build, so obviously i dont know EVERYTHING i need to know. a little bit of support is helpful lol

obviously not hard enough haha. i just ordered the stage 1 cam from the second link you gave me. thanks a lot man. and as asked before, do i NEED to upgrade springs and retainers also? some people say yes and some say no...

It depends. Most 'stage 1' camshafts doesn't need replacing of springs and retainers. From what I remember Skunk2 Stage 1 camshafts can be installed on a stock engine.

I'm pretty sure you'll be okay.

well obviously they can be intstalled on a stock motor... but since im boosting, should i play it safe and upgrade?

skunk stage ones wont need any upgrades to the valvetrain. you can if you want but you could spend the money elsewhere

you know what dude? i'm startin to recognize that you're the most annoying person on this site. every time someone makes a post, you chime in with your little smart remarks. every time someone asks a question, all you can say is research. i'm starting to think that maybe YOU are the one who doesnt know s**t. this is a damn forum. people come here with questions and advice and opinions, and to help out their peers. if you dont like it, then f**k off. keep your opinions to yourself man

so your doing internals to a car thats going to be pushing little boost? 5-6 psi on what kinda of turbo? if its a t25greddy kit your wasting your time with internals just get the arps and your done. no need for all that other s**t. the lower compression vitaras are going to hurt you more than anything.
