Hey, guys. Im a new member to this forum but I have on it for a long time now. (4 months). I have a question. I recently purchased a new sound system. My subs are 12" Rockford P3s, i have two of them. also, i have a full alpine type -r system speaker system. My question is would my car be able to handle this sound system without any upgrades? How about if I upgrade the "big 3"? IF not, what would I need to upgrade and what would be the approximate cost. Thanks.

I have 2 JL 12W3v3s, 500/2 JL amp, and a 300w alpine. i also have a cap and my lights still dim. I plan on getting a high output alternator. you could do the same...

How much am I looking at to upgrade my alternator? And I heard caps are pretty useless, they just put more strain on ur alternator.

im running an optima battery strictly for my system, its located in the trunk near my box, and it works PERFECTLY, i was going to buy a capacitor and i realized i had an optima in the basement, hooked it up with some 4gauge, and i get no dimming what so ever, and im putting out a good amount of power... as for dynamat... go to bestbuy (this is what i did) and buy 4 square feet of it for $35 and youll be set, it covered my trunk and i have NO rattle.

correct, no problems what so ever and i do reccomend this to anyone, some people say its stupid to run a battery in the trunk but f**k them, it saves money and works better than a cap.

^^^Not trying to say you are wrong, but why would you need a battery for such a small/low power system...my lights do dim a bit, but nothing that is even noticible...and isn't the blue top for motorcycles/atv's...I thought the red top was recommended for audio

no problem, but if i had hooked up my system to my stock battery, i would have been running too much power for that and the alternator, which would cause my lights to dim, i had this in my basement and didnt feel like spending 100 dollars for a cap and still having the possibility of dimming lights. works perfect.

Ehhh...I just don't see that system you have doing anything major...must be the car...I have no problems running one sub/two amps/door speakers and my brother has no problem running three amps/two subs/indash/door speakers and we both have stock battery/alternator...

i know you dont realize the importance of this but it worked for me, and it was free, and i can run my system without having my car on for alot longer than alot of people can because of this battery..
