1988 Honda Civic Hatchback-New Seats Won't Fit

Hey, this is my first time posting on this forum, so I'm pretty new here. We just bought some new seats for our 1988 Honda Civic Hatchback. The problem is, the seats won't fit. The rails that you use to bolt the seat into the car are too far apart from each other to fit in the mounting holes in the car. The old seats' mounting rails were closer together and fit, but they were all torn up. I was wondering if anyone knew a good way to fix this problem.

what seats exactly did you get, that should really be our main question to help answer yours, cause this will give us a better understanding of why they don't fit right, IMO.

If the seats are from a 88-91 civic(i think crx too), you can swap the rails by switching the bottom seat pan(from personal experience)

Well, we bought the seats from someone on craigslist. They were listed as 1988 Honda Civic seats. I was thinking that maybe they were seats for the Sedan model instead. I'm not sure though.
