The Tuning Plateau: what to do at the point of no return

Most Civic lovers who frequent these forums know what I'm talking about.

There's a certain point where you realize the next mod you want to do for your car will defiantly take you beyond the point of no return. That's where I am now, considering a B18 swap and a full wire tuck on my D-series EK.

Swaps take time, money, and a promised dedication to your car of choice. And, in my head, there's no point doing a swap if you're considering upping to some other import in the future.

That being said, I'm curious. For those of you that did the swap and kept on going - what was it that helped you make that decision? Only loving Civics and nothing else? Having an infatuation with FWD?

i usually consider the "point of no return" when you do a mod that you cant reverse.

once you do it you cant ever go back to stock.

that moment for me was when i cut out my rear 1/4 panels and drilled holes in favor of widebody.

I get where the OP is coming from. Some of us build our cars with months of saving, years of paying of credit cards. For us, a "simple" mod can be a costly one, where that's what we're gonna be stuck with for a while.

To the OP:

For me, it's not just the huge love I have for the 5th gen hatch, it's also immense satisfaction I get after crossing that line and seeing the payback (whether that be a faster, better handling, or better looking car). I guess doing 95% of everything myself has helped fuel that satisfaction. I mean, I've considered selling my hatch on numerous occasions, but something always brings me back for more.

You can always swap and wire tuck later on.

But I know what you mean, and id rather have a cluttered B18 than a clean D16.
