warm up car?

How long would you guys recommend warming up a boosted civic in the morning? In the winter? and in the summer?

I usually let me car run until the RPM drops under 1k, anywhere close to normal idle time.

you really dont need to warm it up durring the summer if you live in a warm area. the engine will stay warm. just let the oil flow through.

i wait about 20 seconds. once you have oil pressure youll be fine. i dont beat on it until my oil is 20psi @ idle.

I usually let the RPM drop below 1k, in both winter and summer. It doesn't matter what season, the time it takes to warm up will depend on season.

youve got full oil pressure by 30 seconds or so. depending on the ambient temperature youre motor should have normal operating temps after about 5 minutes. i dont drive mine til ive hit 150F on the water temp gauge... she just drives better warm

same here...my car seems to run better once its warmed up.....i usually wait between 1-3 mins b4 i drive off....in freezing winter ill probably wait around 5 mins b4 i drive off....or atleast wait til i see the temp guage starting to go up...

i usually wait til the gauge needle gets just above the cold line then i have heat too while driving haha

If you work in the morning in winter, the best thing to do is run outside, fire up the G ride, turn the heater on full blast, run back inside, get dressed whatever. By the time you sit in your car with the heater on, you'll be warmed up AND your car will be warmed up. And you can do whatevaz youz lieeeeek.

^^ cranking the heater on full will make the engine take longer to warm up. but i guess if you wait long enough then you'll have that toastiness you desire

True; usually I take about 10-15 minutes inside getting dressed and whatever...

If you want, you can CRANK UP THE A/C! That'll get your car warmed up faster ;P

10-15 min is just a waste of gas. Its starting to get to the high 20's low 30's around here and i've found that 5 min is just enough to do the job. sometimes less.

that's how you cool your engine down.



me personally?..... about at least 3min in the summer and at least 10min in the winter. I live in MI tho and it gets pretty cold hurr so I need it to be warm inside as well.
