Astheros - Thanks broski. These were taken at night so, i didn't have much options to work with. Those were metal bands so, they wanted something dark, gloomy, etc. But yeah, i have a bunch of shoots lined up this week, which will be during the day so..be sure to look out for those. The next few I do, want to have a lot of bright colors, etc.

Also - about that "speed light ring light"

You really don't need a speed sync of 1/8000 to kill ambient light with strobes:

This shot was taken by my buddy, Keaton:

He shot that at 10:30 AM, full sun to their left, no clouds in the sky, nor any shade.

One alienbee b1600 in a beauty dish, boomed out over them - high and camera right. One alienbee b800 behind the group, and to the left, for rim.

Settings in camera:
1/200
f/16
ISO 100.

That shot, is how it looked IN CAMERA. He did minimal editing in lightroom. He didn't use photo shop at all, he doesn't even own it.

If you shoot 1/200- 1/250th & f/16+, you can easily kill any ambient light.

Here's another example:

Ambient light exposure -

Shot with 4 lights - Alienbee b1600 with 20 degree grid for her face, SB800 at full power zoomed to 105mm for the hair. A pair of bare bulb Sunpak 120j’s under her dress at 1/2 power each.

Its been doing me really good. I think that's the only lens i actually have on my camera....i don't even use any of my other lenses...
