Seat airbags ...

Hi there,

First I apologize if by any chance I'm repeating the same question. I did use the search function, however I didn't found the answer that I really need it - only part of it.

I own a 08 Civic Si and I love it. The only problem that I have is that I'm a little bit tall (1.85m) and I don't have too much head room. I was thinking on changing the seats for a while now and in a way I'm sorry, because I find the present seats quite comfortable.
Anyway ... based on a lucky bonus I have received, I decided to buy the Sparco Fighter seat (on black) only for the driver side. Should come in tomorrow. I only need the brackets and sliders and I'm sort of good to go.

I've been searching a lot for tips on how to install them, but I hit the wall at the seat airbag chapter.
I have a few questions and I would really, really appreciate some help:

1. - Where can I get a resistor and how could I get it installed? I'm NOT into electronics and I really don't want to screw up by doing stupid stuff. Is like a "cap" that will connect to the connector or just a wire? And where do you put it?
2. - After installing the resistor ... is the side curtain airbag still gonna work or not?
3. - Is there any chance to be able and remove the airbag from the current seat and fully installing it on the Sparco one?
4. - (kind of late for this one though ... ) Is there any way to make the current seat go lower??

Again, sorry if I re-post and help will be greatly appreciated!

OK ... so I did a little bit more research on the Internet and found some more information regarding the resistors and how should be installed :D.
Sorry if I looked kind of stupid with my above questions, but when it comes to electronics, I'm not good.

Anyway ... my only problem now is to know what is the resistance to use.

On some forums they were saying 2 or 2.2 ohms.
Is that true? I would not know how to measure it :(.

A multimeter will help you determine the resistance, just make sure it's not a live circuit.

Too bad I don't know how to use one :(.
Does anyone did this type of modification on the car and already knows the resistance? (06-08)

to measure the resistance, you'll need an ohm meter. now what sucks is you HAVE TO connect it to the live circuit. you would need to back probe the connector. sit in the passenger seat incase airbag discharges. turn car on to ACC. position and watch meter. resistance will spike at top resistance durring the first 3 seconds of key turn, then stedy at normal opperation. if you want to try a 2.2 ohm resistor instead, just plug in a resistor. the worst that will happen is the SRS light will illuminate.

where did you get your info on resistance?

Sorry for the VERY late reply ... been very busy with work.

I have found the 2.2 ohm info after a lot of search on the web. However, nothing is 100% clear.
I even had an attempt to try and mount the chair on, but I had huge problems with the yellow harness. I just could NOT measure that sucker. Was giving me 0, plus was almost impossible to connect the ohm meter pins

I am still desperately trying to find a solution for this. I need it for the track because the chairs that the SI comes with are not that great when it comes to very sharp turns at high speeds - slide a lot :(.

Anyone else found a solution so far?

I've seen that for some of the German cars there is an actual harness that it connects at the ends of the airbag connectors to close the circuit. How neat is that? I wish something like this will be for Honda too ... anyone knows anyone that can do this stuff?

ANY help will be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks!
