Ok so i am looking into a in dash deck for my car. its like 170 and i want to save money by installing in myself. Is there any sites that can tell me or walk me through replacing the old one for the new one? or does anyone know how too?

well if you ever find something at circuit city you like, almost always if you purchase from them they'll install whatever it is for free.

if it's anything like the RSX it will take you longer to wire up the harness than it will to remove the old unit and replace it with the new one.

I spent 30 minutes shrink wrapping my harness and then it took 15 minutes to have the old one out and the new one in.

I can't believe he honestly just asked this question.

it's really easy

1.Find your civics radio wiring diagram online
2.Look at the instructions for wiring the radio
3. splice out the original stereo plug and wire in your new harness.
4.enjoy your music

It was a much bigger pain in the ass to install my rear coilovers than it was to install my stereo, and only slightly more gratifying since lets face it I'm not using the car to its full potential everyday like I am the head unit.

OMFG. Did you just tell him to cut out his old harness? :| You should be banned for that.

To the OP -- buy a conversion harness. For f**k's sake, spend $15 and don't destroy a $200 dash harness.

Its not as hard as people make it out to seem......buy the correct conversion harness, connect it, and match the colors of the cables on the conversion harness to the cables from the new stereo...and please, don't remove the original factory harness. You need it.

i gotta disagree i love installing audio equipment and running wires and tucking them but it is time consuming especially because there are so many wires
