Ok so im just wondering if u really need a intake for ur turbo. I dont have the space for the pipin so im thinking about just the cone filter. Although im not sure it will fit. Ill need one to fit a the turbo with a 4" inlet.
right now i just have chicken wire on it and so far no problems. If been told this is ok but just wondering.

ino rocks and things can get sucked into it but the chicken wire has little holes so im not worried about it sucking anything into it.

I used window screen, 2 layers, and a hose clamp. Been fine for like 6 months. Then again, I dont rock a B series, or GT series turbo... A filter with no pipe would be just fine. Either way you want to rock it, its just to keep particles out of the turbo and motor.

Where are you paying 100 bucks for a filter? An aem dry flow is only 50. I am using a filter and wouldn't have it any other way. If anything and I mean anything gets in there your turbo is toast. I would find some way to get a filter put on there.

So you're willing to destroy your turbo and engine to save $50-100?

All the dust and dirt that gets sucked up into the engine bay can easily get sucked into the turbo. Just throw a filter on the end of the turbo. You shouldn't have too much of a problem finding a 4" filter.

You can fab up a pipe and lead that to where the OE filter/intake used to be and put a filter on that end, that way you're not using the hot air from around the exhaust manifold.

Stick some sort of filter on there. Somehow someway find a way to get at least a little filter on there. Have you thought about using that modular stuff? Do you maybe have a pic of what exactly you're dealing with?
