just bought a p3 sub at a good price and came with a 1200watt sony amp. im just curious is this amp good enuff or i should change it out. the amp came with the sub, the sub is rated at 1000wattts peak and im curious is a 1200watt sony amp will blow it or is not even close to blowing it. i like to listen to music loud so im wanting it to bang at a decent volume. i havnt had a chance to hook it up cause i just spent all my money on the sub and a box and all that s**t. so will it blow it if i turn it up or what? i dont know to much about audio. sorry if this is a really stupid question....

honestly a sony amp in perfect shape and perfect wiring might reach your 1200 watts a couple times but it will probably only reach 700 unless your a pro installer

i know you dont know much about audio

but you chose a shitty brand for an amp, sony is not a very reliable amp for audio equipment.

anyways, depending on the ohm of the sub, your amp is only going to generate so much power to the sub without blowing.

that is actually a really nice subwoofer, 500 watts rms if i can remember correctly..

go to crutchfield.com and click talk to a professional or chat with professional, tell the guy what amp and sub you have and he will tell you the best way to wire it and to get the most power out of the sub and amp
1200 watts is your peak output
