I need a good 12 inch sub and an amp that will work well with each other. Which watt combo should I try to get? Any products you guys reccomend and/or prefer? Thanks in advance.

Memphis makes some of the best amps in the world ... they're damn near bullet proof. Love those things. As for subs, Hertz, Soundstream, Memphis, Morel, and Diamond.

infinity/alpine/rockford/JL

most of those you will find at your local bestbuy/audio store and could potentially have deals...even if you are on a tight budget

The stuff they sell at BestBuy and CC is basically crap. JL is probably the best stuff they sell ... which is sad. I've seen more Infinity subs split open like an oyster than I care to count.

You can get the same deals or better on quality stuff from a reputable local audio shop.

i agree, but some local audio shops can jack their prices up.

thats why i shop ONLY on Crutchfield.com.... VERY reliable.

i have an infinity sub in my car, and its great. ive had friends with infinity subs and they've worked awesome. i feel like infinity is the underdog and no one really knows how good they are, but everyone has their own opinion. IMO boston acoustics is a very reputable company and their subs are quality made.

let us know what you choose

Yeah, I was looking to go sony xplod, but I guess there's a reason the stuff is so cheap. I also will probably get a power capacitor.

I want to my local audio shop today and they were really trying to get a sell on this 10' MBQuart Sub 150w and then a Rockford 300/1 amp. Good idea?

MBQuart is really nice. A little bright sounding for my tastes, but quality s**t. Get something other than a Rockford amp though.

Resonant Engineering subs are the best I've ever heard. I have a 12" SX sub with an Alpine PDX mono (600watt) amp...its only the 3rd system I've had but its by far the best.

Didn't see the Morel's, dont know much about their car audio stuff but their hifi home audio stuff is incredible

If your going with new speakers you'll need an amp as well, factory (even aftermarket decks) usually dont have enough wattage to power good speakers like such^

you dont NEED an amp.

an aftermarket stereo deck is going to produce more wattage to your speakers than a factory stereo deck.

if you buy those alpine component speakers, they will sound very nice with an aftermarket deck. they would sound even better if you amped them.

alpine has good quality speakers, so i think those will make you very pleased.

Go to www.crutchfield.com and choose "outfit my car" and it will tell you what you want to do from there, they also give tips, suggestions and professional advice.

Alpine type R and Infinity Kappa are great subs at decent prices. If you need to be asking what's good, you definitely don't need the best and also probably would not be able to tell the difference.

i used to have an alpine mrp-450 and two 12 inch alpine type e subs... sounded wonderful. my speakers were alpine type s 6.5 inch front and kicker 6x9s in back. the kickers are better IMO... if you're trying to win a show or something, go with top quality... but if you're just listening to music on an everyday basis, hit up crutchfield.com and get alpines for your whole car and you wont be disappointed.
