I bought a p6001 rockford fosgate amp, and i was wondering what subs would be ideal for this amp?

I was looking to get 2 12"s and trying to keep the subs rockford fosgate.

Thanks for the help.

I believe the p600.1 is 600RMS at 2Ω and 300RMS at 4Ω if I remember correctly. Your best coice would probably be 2 single voice coil P2's (since you want to stick with rockford). Wire them in parrallel to get a 2Ω load.

Yea the stats are

300 watt RMS at 4 ohms
600 Watt RMS at 2 ohms

Im new to all this, but this amp will power 2 12"s subs right?
Sounds like a dumb questions.

It's a mono amp, but it can push two subs, depending on the subs and how it's wired. Unfortunately I was incorrect, the P2 does not come in single voice coil. However, you can get two 2Ω dual voice coil P2's and get the same results.

You will wire them like this http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/woofer_wizard/2_2ohmDVC_2ohm.gif

Whoever installs must tune correctly as to not blow the subs. The amp at max gain will be able to put out just a little more than the two subs can handle. However, two P2's are still your best choice with that amp if you want to stick with Rockford subs. If I may suggest, Alpine Type E's would be a better choice. They will sound better and definitely be able to handle the power. Alpine underrates all of their products.

just because its a mono amp doesnt mean you cant power more than 2 subs....actually a mono amp can power as many subs as you want as long as you wire the right amount of ohms to it......a mono amp is a d class amp.....look it up ;)

Thanks for all your help. Im actually just trying to buy an enclosed sub system anyways. Hopefully i can find a decent Alpine enclosure.

for fosgate subs the p2d12 will be the right sub. get the sub and enclosure seperate though there is no point in overpaying for a box. you can pick up a basic sealed dual 12 box for around 50, or are you looking for a custom trunk enclosure?

Well i was looking at the alpine type E's aswell.

I think they may be better, than RF p2's.
And i really dont care about the box, it will be in my trunk and you cant see it so w/e.

What type of box would be better? Ported of sealed?
If i did go with the ALpine, which model should i get? They old type e or the new one?

I also found a pair of brand new type R subs for 209$, would type R be better then E?

on the box it depends on what you want....do you want loudness.....or sounds quality....

sound quality - sealed box

loudness - ported box

Yeh Type Rs are better than Es but for the money you can get amazing subs that aren't "name-brand". I have had 2 Rockfords and now have a Resonant Engineering. Best sub I've ever heard and its a realitvely unknown brand.

Agreed. RE has some good stuff. The reason no one recommends them is because they aren't a mainstream company like Rockford or Alpine.

go with a sealed box. if you had a hatchback the ported would be the way to go.

Meh, sealed seems the best way to go for all types of music and sound ranges. I've had a bandpass box for the past couple years...although it's loud when needed...it doesn't sound good with rock music. Only rap with beats that hit the frequency that the ports are tuned to.

Well i got a sealed box, which is good i guess, cause i listen to rock and rap.

you couldn't be any more wrong. a properly designed ported enclosure will sound identical to a properly sound sealed enclosure...yet the ported enclosure will yield a net gain of approx 3-4.5 db of increased output.
