You should tune your car yourself, because you are so educated with turbo setups.

you can install everything and just unhook a chargepipe or take the wastegate spring out

but then you take the chance of overspooling the turbo and blowin the oil bearings.....

you have to have atleast a little tune for boost. your going to end up running fish tank pieces for you map sensor. i would suggest running that turbo at all until you have atleast a chip to modify your computer for boost. you said it's not a daily driver so i would imagine there being a problem waiting on a 15 dollar chip to come in the mail. besides there really is no point having 1 or 2 psi besides just telling ppl you have boost.

turbo wont spool without a wastegate spring

Wait for the tune, not worth it to run less than 5lbs orf boost. get a good tune and drive it forever. much better then skipping vital steps and blowing your motor.

hmm...alright ....i know if you disconnect a charge pipe you can overspool it....but without a wastegate spring im not sure....i have a internal wastegate so i havent really messed with external wastegates yet....

it will still spool because there's no way all the exhaust is going to be routed through the wastegate, especially on heavy throttle or high rpm, BUT it shouldnt be enough boost for him to even worry about. i had to run open wastegate for a few days while i was waiting for some free dyno time, and i could still hit positive manifold pressure if i opened the throttle more than about 60%

op, there is no point in running 1 or 2psi, although doing so would not require you to even need a tune, though it's still not a bad idea. your stock basemap can accomodate for the small increase in manifold pressure..

Yea whats the point in running open wastegate??? I mean I know what the point would be.....Im saying whats the point in putting the set up on just to run open wastegate until he can afford/schedule a tune :what:

Just leave the turbo off. Oh. 1psi of boost is about as powerful as VTAKKKKKKKK.

wtf i was just asking if its ok to run like a pound or so of boost tell i get it tuned not 30psi idiots one pound is not going to make a diffrence is what i was asking is it or not just to make up for the turbo lag...... Its not a daily driver and i thought this was a good site for some info if i wanted someone to call me an idiot than i would ask if i could boost to 30 psi with no tune THE KEY QUESTION FOR THIS POST IS IT OK TO RUN 1 PSI OF BOOST TELL I GET IT TUNED??????????????????????????

Yeah its alright but have the tuner lined up and make sure you do the kit the right way. If its not a DD then I would install it and have it tuned within the same week since you dont need to drive it. Dont pay attention to the wise ass comments lol their just for fun.

no you cant run 1psi on your car. when the stock ECU sees 1psi it freaks out. there is no mapping in a stock ECU for positive values from the map sensor. it will think something is wrong with the sensor and throw a CEL. it wont supply the additional fuel and timing retard that is required. talk to you tuner and have them burn you a basemap that you can drive around on, NOT BEAT ON, until you can get it tuned.

i always understood differently. since atmospheric pressure varies with weather and elevation the stock fuel map can calibrate itself for a small positive manifold pressure. after all, pressure is relative to where your gage is. if normal atmosphere dropped to 13.7psi, your ecu has mapping for 14.7psi which is technically positive 1psi

My recommendation, leave the kit on since you seem as if you already have it on... No point in taking it off and on; some people here don't understand what a PITA it is to do the same job twice. In the meantime, since you say it's not a DD, just have a basemap from your tuner to DD the car. Then just drive it to where ever you're getting it tuned...
