My Dome light wont come on when i open the doors no more. Its in the right switch but it just stop working one day. I imagined that it would be the sensor on the door. WHat do you guys think???? It works when i put it in the "on" switch but when i put it in the "door" switch it just always stay on.

did you get an aftermarket deck installed? If so, that would be why.

Not if he has a 99-00 civic, that only pertains to the 96-98.
I've got a 98, with aftermarket deck installed in the lower part - Stock deck is still up there but no cables connected to it...and I dont have this issue?

Granted my civic is canadian (si, = us EX)

Hi i am new to these forums. I just bought a 98 Civix EX and was wanting to put a new deck in. But I read in the manual that if you replace the stock stereo that it will be disabled. Is there any way around this?

Any help would be great. And hope to be posting more.

This is just an anti theft think, if you take out the stock stereo it will come up with a little "CODE" thing on the screen, you need a 4 digit number that may be in your manual, if not your SOL rofl. otherwise your aftermarket stereo will work fine as long as its put in professionally and everything is hooked up good.

What about the stock keyless remote? I thought I saw in the manual that the dome light and the keyless fob wouldn't work.

sorry for bring back an out post, i just bought a 98 civic lx it has an aftermartk deck and the dome light works with the on button but not in door mode. I checked all the fuses and everything is good. Does this mean the deck was not installed right? What would I need to do to fix this issue? Thanks.

That is because your aftermarket deck is piggy backing off the stock harness. With the stock radio still in the loop, everything functions properly.

If you cannot locate the code in your service manual, you can contact the dealership. You will need the ID numbers off the factory radio. With these codes, the dealer can give you the code to unlock the radio.

Wrong. Don't share incorrect information.
i have an aftermarket stereo in my 98 and my dome light works in all modes :what:
Chances are you had this professionally installed and the installer jumped the two correct pins in the security harness to complete the circuit and allow the dome light to function or you have the scosche wire harness that also includes the jumper plug.

What about the stock keyless remote? I thought I saw in the manual that the dome light and the keyless fob wouldn't work.
Correct. Factory keyless entry is also tied into the factory radio. In order to keep this function, you will need to relocate your factory radio, either with a T harness that will allow the aftermarket radio to operate while also keeping the factory radio connected, or with the scosche radio relocation harness.

It does not mean your deck was necessarily installed wrong, it just means your installer is either uninformed of the issue, or neglected to read the notes on the dash kit's installation tips. Probably both. Regardless, you can easily remedy this issue. Either, order the scosche wire harness which includes the security harness cap which jumps the correct wires, or jump the wires yourself. I believe the link above contains the picture or link to the correct wires in the security harness.
