ok schools over in a couple of weeks...and ill be home for four months for teh summer!
ive been trying to do some research into boosting my 99 civic d16y8
i want to keep my stock internals and run like 6 psi only.
SO, ive been thinking of this set up:
-ebay fmic 2.5 in piping (an IC is an IC no?)
-dsm blow off valve ??
-dsm 14b turbo/ T25?
-hx manifold and flange/ ebay manifold, preflanged (or is this trash)?
-custom downpipe ??
-370 cc injectors ??
My questions are what should i do for a tune? What chip do i need? And im looking for some alternate suggestions on the DP, injectors, and BOV. Also, is there anything i am missing...

THANKS

PS keep in mind im a semi-broke student lol

you should look at hondata s200, its very reputable and gives you datalogging which s100 doesnt. Make sure your tune is good, which you will need a good tuner to do it. Find one in your area by searching or calling or just asking around.

I would reccomend going with around 440 or 450 cc injectors just incase you want to turn up the boost

ive heard good things and bad things about ebay turbo's but i think you should be alright.

look into getting a catch can and do not get an ebay manifold, they crack and will be a waste of money. Search on here or on honda-tech.com for turbo's mani's, bov's and wastegates.

EDIT: www.turbod16.com will be your bible, its mine.

well you can get DSM injectors but i think you will need the resistor box, which in total can run you around 100. those would be perfect for your setup. If you buy RC injectors i think they are around 300, im pretty sure they are direct fit. im not sure, i havent purchased them yet. just PLEASE make sure you get a good tuning program cough cough hondata...

get a bigger injectors like 750 because in the long run u will want to crank up the boost. plus they cost the same might as well get the 750 or so.

check out the "post your turbo setup" or something similar...I am almost done with my boost project, it always takes more money than anticipated...I was going for a budget build and I think I've spent just under $2000, and its not even done (I still need exhaust, ecu, oil lines, and a few flanges). Put a list together, or pm me and I can send you my list.

I looked at ebay pipes/intercooler kits but when I started researching more its better off to go with a custom kit from a reputable place (ex. go-autoworks.com). Ebay piping is hit or miss and most of the time you have to cut/weld to make it work. I wouldnt go with a ebay turbo, I'll be using a DSM turbo as well (td04hl). I havent mounted them yet but I went with Precision 440s w/obd1 clips. I believe they will fit no problem *fingers crossed*. hondamarketplace will have tons of d-series turbo parts, my entire build is coming of that and the for sale section on here. As far as ecu/chip goes look at phearable.net...hondata is :thumbs up

-ebay fmic 2.5 in piping (an IC is an IC no?)

....yea ive been running a ebay fmic and 2.5" for a year now...only probs ive had is blowin off couplers....but the problem is shitty couplers and worm gear clamps....but im also running 15lbs....get t bolt clamps though if you really want a good grip...i was reading the t bolt clamp can hold 20x stronger than a worm gear clamp...

-dsm blow off valve ??

.....dsm bov will work fine....bov is really about sound.....tial and greddy are excellent bovs but expensive....dsm is a good cheap bov...

-dsm 14b turbo/ T25?

....good turbo too....im using a saab T3 and its pretty nice....dsm 14b turbo will probably max around 220whp....saab T3 should be good to around 265whp....

-hx manifold and flange/ ebay manifold, preflanged (or is this trash)?

....im using a hx manifold with no probs....i say go for it....if you decide to go with a ebay manifold....make sure to buy a cast iron manifold....not a cheap shiny manifold....

-custom downpipe ??

.....yea i made a custom dp with 2.5" piping.....

-370 cc injectors ??

...i would atleast go with dsm blue top injectors....450cc....

Automatics will depend on your tuner; it's up to the tuner whether or not he wants to take on the challenge of tuning an automatic turbo app. Most EMS should be able to let you tune, automatic or not. Contact the EMS manufacturer as well as your tuner, and they'll be able to help you out more with this.

Ebay turbos are alright as long as its low boost, but id still look into finding a genuine DSM turbo rebuilt or something. As far as a bov look for a turboxs rfl, those are loud =]
