Civic Security

So yesterday it hit me that i have invested a lot of money on my civic and and that if a thief really wanted to that they could ruin everything i have worked hard for. I'm looking for a remote starter/alarm for my Manual transmission. I was looking at the Ultrastart brand and it seem pretty good but i figured i asked you guys for your opinions. I have the simple steps to protect my car from thieves but it will help me sleep a lot better at night knowing that a thief would be interrupted by an alarm system.

my 2000 Civic has a Manual Trannsmission

I had a Viper two-way and it didn't do anything to help me. The car was still stolen.

The Viper alarm on my car now has a few sensors. I've got a fuel cutoff switch and a boot for the clutch.

Removing the ECU doesn't sound like a bad idea. I thought a few months ago someone tried to steal mine.

Also, make sure you have full coverage insurance. Don't be stupid like I was when I had my first Honda. Even if it is worth $2000-3000, that's money you'll never see again when they thieves take your ride.

If you want auto-start with your 5-speed, make sure you always park in gear before you get out of the car.

^^ LOL!

Check your state laws if adding a remote start. Remote starts are illegal in manual cars in IL.

taking the ecu out every night isa bad idea. the pins in the plugs can get loose after being plugged in and then unplugged a bunch. i am looking at some autopage alarms for my car. but like everyone else is saying hidden switches are a good idea. just make sure you use high quality switches, dont want that s**t going bad on you

No, how about you be smart and purchase a unit that is designed to safely be incorporated into a manual transmission vehicle like the Viper 5701.

Sorry that im an idiot for asking this. Basically the car won't start if you activated your fuel kill switch. If you start the ignition and forgot to turn it off, nothing will happen right? I was reading the tutorial on how to do it; how do you know which is the fuel pump wire?

You take out your back bottom cushion and then remove the metal plate. Find the two wires going to the fuel pump and pick the positive wire. Thats the wire you need now just follow it back to where ever you want to hide your switch
