I didn't mean flush in the door. I like the pods you did for the door. I just mean they should be more molded to the door instead of looking like they are bolted on top of them. I would personally keep the same type of pod, just glass them into the door panel it's self so it looks like it is all one piece. Same thing for the tweeter pods. Great idea, just need to look more one piece. For instance, I really don't like how you can tell my pillar gauge pod is mounted on top. I am going to either get the one that is the full pillar pod or glass this one into it. Seeing that they don't actually make one for 5th gen sedans, I might have to get my hands a little dirty and mold the one I have into the stock pillar.

you spent 900 on polks and 200 on a cheap sub stage? throw them in the door where they belong and sound deaden it..

Cool, thanks. Actually the great thing about these components is that they have excellent off-axis response so you don't need to mount the tweeters next to the driver. I used to have both the driver and tweeter in kick panels for a bit and i found that the sound stage was too low, plus I was too afraid someone was going to accidentally kick a pair of $900 speakers! ... so i moved them. I originally wanted them flush in the door panels like you suggested, but having them aim upwards a bit helps heighten the sound stage. I know they stick out a little, but that was a decision i decided to make.

Any pics would be cool, but its up to you.
Regardless of the off-axis response the higher frequencies produced from the tweeters will hit your ears before the slower frequencies produced from the woofers. So as stated earlier it still would be ideal to place them slightly below the woofer or get something like Alpine's Imprint and do time correctly to account from the placement.

I'm not sure what you're referring to. each sr subs costs 350-400 and theres no way I can fit them in the doors :what:

You're right about that. I plan on getting the alpine h701 so I can use its time alignment. I had also planned on getting the w505 so I can use optical output and have a navi as well, but i'm not so sure thats gonna happen this summer :(

what gear are you rocking?

Oooh, I see what you're saying. Thats a good idea, actually. thanks for the heads up, that'll be my next project. I want to try and do that for the tweeters in the a-pillars but I dont think that can be done for the speaker pods in the doors because there are 3 screws behind each pod that you need to remove to take off (or put on) the door panel. Without those screws, the door panel would be a little loose.

my current system. I know, its lacking a lot. Planning to upgrade after summer.

System is just clarion speakers and sub, refurbished sony 2 channel, used kenwood 4 channel. Probably only like 600 watts of power, everything included.

Dont worry, I didn't pay anyone to do the install. Not too bad for my first try, just saving money for a better one.

Sounds a lot better than the stockers, can't wait to upgrade.

^^
If you did those door panels yourself, I'm impressed. I just stripped out my system as I'm upgrading now. I'll get pics of my new system soon. Hopefully.

It looks like those tweeters are held up with electrical tape.

I'll give you an A for effort but a D for execution. The trunk is nice but those door speakers and tweeters are foul to the eyes IMO.

I actually am running the w505 and loving it
I think Imprint will do me alright as well. I would definitely consider myself an enthusiast, but also being a student, the H701 is not even feasible. Also, I think the benefit of using the fiber optic cable is somewhat defeated because once you come out of the processor you are right back in analog (RCA) again. As for the rest of the system, I just ordered my PDX 4.100 and 1.600. Im going to run Type X Pros up front, JL ZR800CW mid drivers in the rears, and probably a 12" Image Dynamic IDQ. My front and rear stage will have fiberglass sealed enclosures behind their corresponding panels. Of course Imprint and a s**t load of dynamat in addition to what's already in the car lol.

My recently installed system, changed every speakers except for the tweeters. Just so you know, my front speakers aren't exposed, i have the stock speaker grilles on them.
