It's exactly why I got out of the Import/Honda scene. It's supposed to be about the passion for modding and racing cars, but some people can't grasp that concept. Plus Honda's are cheap which means ANYONE can afford one.
You couldn't handle the heat.

No, I thought everyone was a douchebag, and plus I realized I could drop 3K on a bike and be faster in a straight line and corner than any Civic could douche.

this whole thread is beating a dead horse.

people hate on hondas because of all the immature cocky 16yo kids that talk smack because think their car is hot s**t. these are the same kids that will try to race you at every light. there's just so many of them that the rest of us mature drivers get the heat.

i drive a subaru now and nobody tries to race me any more. :thumbs up

mature drivers? sure if think mature means spending $400 on mirrors and $125 on a shift knob because you havent yet learned the value of a dollar.

Wow, assuming? You're making an ass out of yourself
He said nothing about or referring to spending an assload for mirrors etc... he was talking about racing.
Spending that much just depends on how much income you have and what your priorities are and if you want or don't want to spend money on shitty parts.

Think before you speak.

i believe you're making erroneous assumptions about me, because i've never bought any items like that for that kind of price. actually, i've never bought either of those items. maybe you've got me confused with someone else, perhaps someone who prefers aesthetics to performance... i do know the value of a dollar, which is why i don't waste it on frivolous (imho) accessories for my vehicle, perform my own work and maintenance, drive conservatively (most of the time, but i just love boost too much), etc. however, everyone has different preferences, so who are we to judge? everyone seeks something different from their vehicle. either way, a word of advice: think before you post =)

but yes, as stated above, i was referring to driving mentality.

I 100% agree with you! I'll be honest and say that i used to be one of the people that would get disgusted with hondas and think they were all ricers. Most of the time it was because thats all you saw driving around modified and it was young drivers always trying to show off by racing around, revving engines, peeling out, tailgating, driving like an ass, just being straight out dangerous... all the things that make that person/car look bad. There was very few toyotas nissans or subaru's modified driving around but hondas were by the handful that were doing this. My wife very much into hondas she HAD a 2000 Civic Si at that time, where as I had an american car. She was the one that made me understand that not all civics/hondas were rice just because of the immature drivers and I made her understand that not all american cars were junk. Now many many years later she has her RSX-S and I'm driving our 97 Civic one thing I never thought that would be driving as my car.

the reason people hate civics is because most of them are riced out. I only see clean civics on here. My pothead budy primes his with a rattle can about once a week and scrapes paint off the glass afterwards. hondas are economy cars not meant to be raced. IF modded they are fast. if not...then they're not fast. Like destroy said...too many people want to race in their slow hondas...and it gives people the impression that all are slow and shitty.

ive seen some riced out mustangs and all sorts of cars...not just hondas. if you dive a honda just be prepared to be hated on...just the way it is...get over it.

I've never had anybody hate on my car, in fact I have muscle car owners come up and ask me about my RSX pretty frequently.

Guys at the local circle track all like my car, in fact one of them does all my installs that are beyond my expertise.

I've only really seen Honda hate from online people talking trash because they can get away with it. Also, SRT-4 owners are the most cocky thing to hit the planet; at least around here. But I do agree from what was previously said, the stereotype comes from new drivers who race around thinking their car is the fastest on the street.
