From VTI (SI) to a Type-R

Hello CLub Civic members,

My name is Eric, I drive a black VTi 1996 hatchback. I bought it it stock with a B16A2 block.
I live in The Netherlands. bought the car in 10-2007.
Joined last year in march, to get some info on type-r engines and swaps and to buy some cool stuff.
I was thinking of swapping my B16A2 for a B16B, but i was thinking on installing a turbo.
I am forum memember of The Netherlands civic club, and the dissicion was 50/50.
some guys think the turbo is better and some the type r swap.

But now i am leaning towards a B16B it is a clean installation and still get an extra clean 25 HP.
Its my everyday car. In one year i drove 20000 km , so the engine got to last.. but i never raced my car.
I treat it very well., like what every guy says its my baby

My car was missing a few accesories. And I wanted to install only original honda parts. Or it either has to
look stock. I bought it with the red badges allready so that why i want to convert it to a true type R

All what i have done so far:
- It was hard to find a black armrest,, found one in Japan.-(EBAY)
-Installed Ac unit. (Ebay US)
-OEM foglights (HONDA Dealer)
-JDM cupholder(EBAY japan)
-Spoon headers(USA)
-Black Lexus tail lights(NL)
-Lenzo 17inch rims rapt in toyo proxes sport
-Tinted the front windows( got a ticket from the cops for last month 120USD)
-installed electrical adjustable headlights,,pulled the headlight apart, painted it black
-installed strobe light in the headlight unit, without messing up the reflection of the light.
easy to replace the blub.
-xenon lights
-installed red led light to give it mad look
-run the video in and audio in cables from my dvd player to the armrest and build it into the armrest, in the
extra switch holes that it has.
- installed almost a 1000W of sound in the car, with dvd player. but kept everything wel hidden.
-painted the valve cover and the front strutbar and brake calipers red
-installed CTR folder power mirrow.

Now I am saving up for that B16B with LSD tranny.
Hopw you guys approve of my work,, it is nothing really noticable, but clean ;D
I'll keep posting the updates, hopefully I'll finish this year, with the B16B w/ LSD

The AC was installed but not hooked up to the pully, because was missing a hose, you can see i had
a kink hose,, but just put it one to wait for the right hose so no dust got into the compressor.

yea wheels are terrible... and the taillights are interesting... but not really my thing. other than that, looks good

Wheels are horrible.
Tail lights are horrible.


But that hatch is f**king awesome!!!!!! Those lips and fog lights are really nice.

Well, the other guys over here got the racing rims,, like the ones you guys got, 15 to 16 inch, momo
apex, ect there are not far behind.
and they are switching to OEM/JDM tailights,, i still got my original taillights.
But since i spend the money to get them 1,5 years ago. I decide to keep the look.
I still have the original rims, but i like 17inch it fills the wheel arch beter. and the black
matches the car.

the OEM rims are SI (VTI) rims, i don't know if they where sold for the USDM.

the plan was , b16b and a supercharger Jackson Racing,, but then i saw that VORTECH also came out with one.
and you dont need to change the intake manifold.. but what i don't understand is how does it work.
i send then an email to them but never got a reply.
Since typr r block got reinforce seals and bearing and springs, and a supercharger doesn't produced
just as much psi as a turbo (depending manifacture) the engine should last longer with the supercharger..
i have looked up the differences between turbos and superchargers..
what is the differnce in experience with supercharger, turbo and type r engine?
has anyone has experience with the vortech how does it work?? is that a shaft running across the exhaust manifold??

new wheels are UGLY... get the OEM ones painted or powder coated gold... just my couple pennies

can't really help you with your turbo vs super charger debate... someone more educated will chime in
