I'm looking into getting a 1999/2000 civic si. And I will have some money left over from selling my other car/savings so I was just wondering if you guys had $1,500 to spend on modifications for the car what would you get? Looking for more performance mods than wheels/suspension. I figure h/i/e but not sure what to do after that (if I have any $ left over) but alot of the si's around here already have intake/exhaust so what would you reccomend after that? Any advice would be great, thanks guys.

umm, there isn't a lot else that is really worth it for going NA. The right headers and exhaust can give you a little something and sound nice but boost is the only way to get real power out of these things, once you drive it a little you will see the difference in torque between this and a mustang or whatever else V6 or V8. Honestly i think the most fun part of driving is going in to corners quick and going out faster, $1500 in suspension and tires may just get you more enjoyment than $1500 in bolt on stuff for 15-20 hp IMO. Hope you enjoy the ride tho and get to juice it a bit. I would say that i/h/e and suspension are recommended, just which first.

Have you ever been in a fast car? I mean faster than a 12/13 second quarter mile. I would MUCH rather have something other than a civic thats faster and better if I had the money / choice.

But for sake of this thread, with $1500, do suspension. Or you can boost it and leave it looking stock and have a semi-sleeper look.

Don't think I can really boost it for $1,500 but I know, my mustang is only a V6 but it makes about 200 ft/lbs of tq at the crank and an si has what 100 at the crank? The si is quick but a different kind. I would never dream of shifting at 8,500 in my mustang lol. And I'm not talking about racing just want to make it a little more fun as a daily driver because that's what it will be. I'm not worried about it being really "fast". I love the looks of the car, know they are relilable, get good gasmileage, and are/feel like quick little cars which is why I'm getting one. So besides h/i/e what about cams? And I know what your saying about suspension making it more fun to drive, I love taking turns in my car and going around windy roads...its something about the rwd that I love.

Yeah but I'm guessing the suspension on it was already done? I would say boost, but since you're not dropped yet I'd have to go with everyone else on this one. Get the ground control/koni combo, one of the sponsors on this site is selling it for $850, get camber kits, and I would also get the ASR Swaybar/subframe brace combo. The total will come out to about $1500 but you'll enjoy driving it so much more!

maybe a lighter flywheel. That lets the car rev a little quick and frees up a few hp right?
I highly doubt an aftermarket flywheel witll give you HP.

-3" intake
-4-1 header
-2.25" custom exhaust
-ITR intake manifold
-New shocks
-Lowering springs
-Motor mount inserts

That should make the car more fun to drive and give you some sweet high end.

My mothers a teacher in Coverntry the roads are rough, I live in Burrillville and the roads are just as bad here lol. And I assume I would be piecing together a turbo kit if I was going to get one for $1,500 right?

Is his name anthony deroy? No I don't dirtbike really. As far as the $1,500. If I find a stock one, I'm thinking cai, headers/exhaust (high flow cat? does it start to sound ricey with a high flow), lowering springs, shocks, lightweight flywheel/shortshifter. What about cams? I know skunk2 makes cams for the B16 as well as a few other companies, are they worth it at all?

i'd take that $1500 and start a B20 build. get a short block and you can put money into it over time.

you can build a pretty tight shortblock for $1500. id actually start with a gsr motor, its already got a head start with the vtec head

$1500 for 20 more hp?? Not worth it.. Just keep the B16 and work with that. You can make much more power with $1500.

I wouldnt recommend a light weight flywheel, your car revs up fine as it is. Remember, the faster it revs up, the faster it can go down.

Btw, I have a JDM ITR intake manifold for sale. Its 100% bolt on for your car. The runners are fat and long. ;)
