Wastegate To Exaust

Hello everyone. I am currently deployed and plan on buyin an ebay turbo for my 99 civic ex so that I have a project when I get back. I have an issue with these turbos though. I am fairly new to the forced induction scene but I have noticed that the waste gates on most of these turbos vent to the atmosphere. I don't want to do this for 2 main reasons.

1. I would imagine that it would be loud as hell.
2. Probably would fail inspection and dirty the engine compartment.

Question is. If I buy one of these turbo kits to start small how would I direct the exaust gases from the wastegate to the rest of exaust. How much trouble would it be to make sure all exaust gases are passed thru the catalytic converter. Or perhaps someone can tell me where to buy such an attachment. Thank You all in advance for your help.

Well, theres good and bad for both types.. I beleive you are referring to the dump tube on the wastegate than the little nipple on top that vents as well..

If you have a short dump tube that vents free, that is good for quick disposal of exhaust, drawbacks are thats its a little loud.

If you make your dumptube to vent back inline with the exhaust, then its more of a restriction but is alot quieter..
So, theres your choices.. so route it back inline before it gets to the cat.

Bolt on dump tube. Inline exaust.

Yes I am referring to the dump tube. Do kits usually leave an open tube where you have to fabricate your own line to go back inline? or can you buy the part and bolt on? Thanks for the help.

you'll probably have to make your own....

but its not that big of a deal...just take it to a local muffler shop and have them make a pipe for you and weld it in....
