Hey guys, I did a search and got nothing :(

I need to know how to remove paint fomr the plastic interior pieces.

The previous owner of my EJ8 thought Purple was a good color, I however, disagree.

I need to know if there is any way to remove the paint withough melting the plastic. I got most of the paint off of one of the pieces by just scraping it off with my fingernails, but, that isn't getting all of it, and, the other pieces are being stubborn.

Any and all constructive feedback will be appriciated =)

Thanks guys

You can sand it down and repaint it to the colour you want.

I was afraid of that :( I have spent more than too much time at the pull a part, and although they do have a 2000 EX coupe with full interior, it's been under water, I know I can clean up the plastics, but, I was hoping to remove the purple from what I have.

On another note, being that it's a pull a part, I dunno what they'll still have by the time I get back there (I work 6 days a week :( )

The dash isn't painted LOL thank god, but, damn near eveything else is.

I'll post up pics after work tomorrow. basically, if it's plastic, it's either painted or effed up :(

Paint thinner is not for cleaning off paint, it's used for mixing. You should google lacquer thinner, it'll work better. You could also try youtubing "paint removal".
Since were on this topic, I picked up a can of mineral spirits today, which i will be using for prepping my side skirts. This solvent is made to clean, thin, and blend into the paint. MS mixes are less harsh than lacquer thinner.

update

I took my ctr mirrors to get them painted. I asked them about removing paint. They said that plastic parts have the paint baked on to make the paint stick. The best way is to sand the paint off. Chemicals can be harsh on the plastic according to the body shop.:word:

Are you saying if I heat my interiors up the paint will stick?

I'll look into that, I've had really good luck with the super clean, But I don't have anything to put it in to do the last two big pieces (Drivers side A-pillar cover and rear pillar cover) As promised I will post up some pics later. I'm on my way out the door to eat dinner =)
