I'm in the market for an alarm for my car, since I live in a city which ranks in the top 10 cities with the highest theft rates. Since school is starting up soon I can expect to have some finicial aid to spend on an alarm. I'm looking for something around 350-500, installed. any good reccomendation.

You could probably get a Clifford 50.5x with Remote Start, Backup Battery and Siren, Digital Tilt Sensor, and Proximity sensor, Hood Pin, and Trunk Release Sensor for about $450 - $500. Remember it is all about the installation and you will pay more in some places for a better install. My .02

Anything DEI (Viper and Clifford being their two better brands). 5701 is a nice model, I personally have it in addition to the tilt sensor, additional external shock sensor, and backup battery.

Well I work for an authorized DEI dealer and am an installer, so how much it cost me is fractional to what it would cost you lol. Best Buy charge $410 for the 5701 and that includes basic install. Honestly, I would only take it to Best Buy if you know the installer working on your car personally, most of Best Buy has a bad reputation for sucking at installing (which for the most part is true). If you go to a mom and pop shop, I'm sure it would end up costing a little bit more, but not by much. I would say $500 is a good average estimate of what you will end up spending on just the 5701 install. Additional items such as backup battery and add on triggers will of course cost more in parts and labor anywhere. The most import part of the install is the work quality and the ability to disguise the alarm into factory wiring, that's why I stress again the importance of knowing the installer and his work.

the new AutoPage alarms have the C-3 Technology and transmits to your cell phone. If it does get stolen, you can track the movement from your cell. If someone tampers with ur ride, your cell will let u know. Sounds perfect for a high theft area like your saying. Ask around for price, but look into it.
