What a dumb thing to happen... went to pop the hood, handle snapped off.

Do I need to replace the whole cable assembly, or is there a way of removing the remaining plastic bits and putting on a new handle?

Reach behind where the handle is, you can pull the end of the cable with your hand. I've haven't had a working handle in years.

Welcome to the club!

If you want the OEM Handle back, you have to buy the whole Hood Latch Cable and replace it. Might as well re-route it if doing that. The whole thing cost like $15.00 BNIB from Honda.

However, there is a Billet Handle made by Epic Tuning that replaces the broken plastic handle without needing to replace the whole cable. I still havent bought it yet though, going to soon. I've had mine broken for a good while now and its beginning to piss me off having to get behind the Kick Panel to open the hood. It costs $29.99 + S/H ... Here's the link: http://www.epictuning.com/hood_release.html

Good luck!

thats pretty sick. but i dont think i could justify spending $30 for a handle that no one ever sees lol.

i just broke my handle off the other day, but i can still open my hood by pulling on the little nub thats left lol

Mine is broke as well. I just used a few zip ties and have a loop that you pull. Cheap, works.

Its not that its hard to replace, people are just lazy and dont want to do it.

Well I was already going to spend $25 for the cable assembly from Honda, I figured why not spend $10 more, make it easier on me (I seem to be having bad luck with simple stuff) and have something that's going to last longer than a plastic handle that will just break again.

My philosophy is when something breaks, replace it with something better.

^ Good philosophy. Yeah, the Plastic Handle is just bound to break again if you're not careful, the Billet one, in the other hand, will last forever.
