99 civic sir b16a2 engine., 4-1 headers., 2 1/4 front to back piping, spoon n1 muffler. cold air intake., high tension wiring., my friends told me to purchase a vtec controller or a supercharger. whats the difference between the 2? and what brands are reliable & good price? is supercharger hard to install?

a vtec controlled is just a device that overrides the factory vtec engagement and it makes it so you can set the vtec to "pop" whenever youd like...but IMO if you just have basic bolt on's a vtec controlled isnt going to make that much of a difference...you can research a supercharger.

supercharger gonna cost you dough. its like a turbo only belt driven which will give you no lag just sheer air intake =)

yeah if you supercharge your going to need some engine management anyway which normally allows you to control vtec engagement. but IMO if you just have bolt ons the factory engagement is right where you want it. cheak out jackson racing superchargers. one of the best for hondas. 2000 bucks tho

For the price of tha SC youll get 6 lbs for $2000. For 2000 u can go turbo and and have room to upgrade later down the road for more boost.

SC<Boost = Boost is best!

do everyone here a favor and take the money you were going to spend on hose parts and just buy a gun and shoot yourself in the face

it depends what you want. turbo or supercharger. sure turbos push more boost but superchargers got their plus'. better driveability and reliability i know I'm gunna get chewed for saying that but its true in alot of cases. depends how you want your car to drive.

Turbo'd civic can be just as reliable as long as your tuner knows what hes doing.. Of course, you cant push 15lbs right out of the gate on a stock block, but most can do 8-9 with proper tuning on stock block w/o any problems. Its all in the tune.

My point is, with a turbo, you have room to grow. With a SC, youll get bored early and wish u could get better performance out of it..

trust me, we all have said this is my HP goal blah blah... but when u get there, youll get bored quick. With boost, you can change a few things here and there and get to where you want to be.

Ask any boosted B or D and they will tell you the same thing.. SC's are a waste of ur hard earned $$ IMO. but, dood, its your ride, do what makes u happy.
