i have a 1993 Honda Civic Ex Sedan and all four speakers were dead since i bought the car and now that the car is up and running i'm going to be installing new speakers for the car... i remember reading in an article a little while back stating that all the four speakers had the same size, which were 6.5" all around, and i was just wondering if that was correct, also which brand should i go for...?

It is all a matter of preference. I personally won't buy sony car stereo products. Mostly that Xplod crap.

MB Quartz, Infinity Kappa, Polk Audio, Boston Acoustic are all good brands.

I had MB's in my bug and was VERY happy with them. Right now the Civic has Punch's all the way around and they sound pretty good. Nothing wrong with them so I haven't felt the need to replace 'em yet.

It really depends on what you are looking to spend as to which product to select......some of the products listed by lethal6 are fairly decent speakers. If you're the kind of person that just wants to get by, I would not get anything cheaper than at least Alpine type-S or Infinity reference. Crap like Sony, almost all Pioneer, and Kenwood make crappy speakers. Also, to be honest, rear speakers are not necessary unless you tote a lot of passengers. In terms of sound quality, no rear speakers are desired. Put your money up front, grab a nice set of component speakers and then if you really feel the need, eventually throw some coaxials in the rear. Again, what's your price range?

I prefer my Focal's. I don't even have my set up done up how I want it and they kick ass...

No problem.

I agree. Get the fronts dialed in better as that is going to be the high majority of what you hear.

:smackself How could I forget Focal. They are on the top of my list for component sets. Bit spendy but worth it.

6.5s should fit fine, but depending on the mounting depth of the speakers you purchase you may need spacers to make em fit, mdf rinds work well.

.. personally I wouldn't go with sony for anything car audio
