Soo last year I got subs installed from Best Buy. I realized that once they installed them, my dome light stopped working ONLY when it was set to door (so it turns on when the door is open)... But when I turn the dome light on from the switch, it comes right on. I told best buy that the dome light doesn't work when the car doors open, and the guy told me it's supposed to do that... I'm pretty sure it's not..

Any idea why they don't work now? Thanks

EDIT: I think it's the wiring in the kick panel, I'm just not sure where to look, as there's a s**t load of wires in there.

The control for the dome light and the security system (if your car had one) is in the stock radio for whatever stupid reason. Thats just what happens when you take out the radio. The only work around I'm aware of is to get a wiring harness that lets you connect both an aftermarket radio and the stock one, then either put the stock one in the top or shove it back behind the dash.

i had the same problem there are 2 wires that need to be spliced together in order for it to work with an aftermarket headunit

EDIT: green/black wire and green/red wire strip twist and tape or whatever kind of connector to tie them together

Yup it's an easy fix. That is why I would never use a Best Buy or chain store to install stuff into my car.

Where would I find the wires at? The dome light wiring is behind the kick panel, so I'm guessing those wires?

For some reason all I had to do was replace the dome light fuse and my light started working when I oopen the door. I guess when i installed my Premier head unit it blew the fuse. Everyone else has to hotwire the harness, I don't get it!

you have a 99 civic, which has a separate module for the locks and everything as opposed as the 96-98 which have it built into the radio
