95 Civic EX 45mpg

I wanted to do a car that got near 50mpg, and it gets 45mpg currently doing 65-70 highway.

I put in a D15b Japanese engine with 35k after I blew the D16z for the second time, modified the aerodynamics, put on a refurbished cf hood, got rid of power steering and a/c, lightened the accessory pulley, and gutted the interior. I will get pics of the interior - the bare metal was all rhino lined, I made a custom fiberglass dash, and i put in an aluminum bomber seat.

It's a work in progress: it could easily hit 50mpg with some insight parts: gas tank, exhaust, rear brakes, etc.

i have video links on my facebook page which I will link below:

Why are you running such big wheels and tires

I'm not.

Those are 15's, that's not big. They actually give it a nicer stance. The car actually has about 400lbs of tools and a generator sitting inside it in this picture, so it is weighed down pretty heavy.

Meh

I got the car with 17's and low profiles, it looked stupid and felt terrible. I put 14's on with roughly the same size tire, and it looked dopy. The 15's and white letters make it look like less of a ricer and give it a better stance with the front lowered, in my opinion. But hey, to each his own!

Use smaller lighter weight wheels with a factory offset."Less of a ricer" is not exactly the first thing that comes to mind when looking at your car.

Like I said

I didn't like the look of the 14's and low profiles/14's and non-low profiles with this car, it's that simple. These rims are pretty light weight comparatively speaking - I'm not running with Rays wheels or anything, but this project was done on a budget as daily driver to clean up the stock civic look and get great gas mileage. Unless I was running on a modified suspension (not just lowering springs), the potholes in Chicago are terrible, and low profiles hit them HARD.
