that's surprising. on a good day with zero demos, no music, a few videos on my hard drive I could free it up to 8 or 9 gigs...

I dont keep demos for more than a day or so. I just dload them to evaluate the game, then erase them.
I also have no music or videos.

I have the media center set up though. So my xbox plays the video and music that are on my 2 pc's, laptop, and external hd's.

im not exactly sure what the jasper chip/motherboard is, but i think its just a different manufacturer, and it supposedly completely eliminates the RRoD

i would..but my computer freezes when i try to use the media center thing..guess i gotta wait for windows 7..which i have no idea when it releases..or if it already is.

Even if you're using vista, it has YEARS of support and troubleshooting compared to windows7.

It sounds like upgrading to a new OS is just going to amplify your problem...

If you're using xp/vista, just google it... i'm sure there are others out there that have had the problem, solved it, and posted the how-to online.... it will take months for that kind of support to develop for a new OS.

a jasper unit is the code name for the new chipset. Basically the thinking here is, less power used, less heat. Which is some what true in this case. But the jasper does not completely eliminate the RROD. There is apparently another chipset in the works as well.

i have an XP media center, and its been kinda messed up for awhile. and i think my hard drive is going bad so i was going to just get a new HD and start over. my friend can get it for like $10 at the school he goes to. i think i looked it up one time and couldnt get it to work.

windows 7 is pretty nifty.... I have the beta running on a box in the back room...

just dont expect it to fix any of your problems.... and do expect less help/support when you encounter them.

you can do store pick up on the site. I preordered splinter cell and red dead redemption, my gf preordered nhl 10 for me and forza 3. That chops down my list pretty good.

the xbox is only compatible with media center. unless you can find someway to hack it an make it work with itunes or something. and you cant use the computer HDD to store stuff on the xbox nor a USB HDD. but you can buy a aftermarket HDD and format it and do some other stuff and replace the stock HDD in the case
