So Jessica and I qualify for refinancing our mortgage. Its going to go from 7% fixed to 5.25% fixed for 30 years. Basically its going to make our payment a month go from $1,080 a month down to $935 a month.

Also I think Jess and I are going to take the truck to Florida in Feb. ITs going to be about $500 in gas. That isnt as bad as I thought it would be.

My friends car was found on sunday morning. yup, its just a shell now.

what would you guys do?

hand over the title and be over with it.
Take the shell and make something out of it.

i would total it and start over. it's really too much pain and hard work to get things back to the glory days. i sure hope he's got full coverage + added coverage for his mods. i really don't understand why people don't insure their mods. your regular insurance will only cover the first $1000 of aftermarket parts. after that, they need to be listed and added on.

They're not that bad especially the v6 one

you mean the old 2.8L cavalier? they only had 140hp. i've cruised in a good number of them, though... very fun

the turbo ss is pretty damn quick, faster than the supercharged one they had before. it has the same 0-60 time as my subie (5.7s), with 260hp/260lbft which is pretty impressive. regardless, the cobalt is going bye bye and it's being replaced by the chevy cruze, powered by a 1.4L ecotec turbo (gm claims 139hp and 148lbft). there's a 2L turbodiesel trim, but it seems to be euro-only.

in other news... i called the local subieship for a quote on a four wheel alignment. they wanted $129.99. i called firestone/bridgestone up. they offered me lifetime alignment (lifetime of the car) for $139.99. guess who's getting my business. lifetime alignments sound great to me. i mean.... get an autoX spec alignment done, go run, then go back for a good street spec alignment...

Continue to pay what we are paying now. The majority will then goto principal. Its all about making that 20% mark so we dont need the mortgage insurance anymore.

And for those who dont know, you need mortgage insurance until you have 20% of you mortgage paid off. It insures the loan company that you will pay your mortage on time.

ah i see, i didn't know about the 20%. makes perfect sense to toss it towards principal and lower your interest

our interest is going down to 5.25%. If we could get rid of the mortgage insruance we could chop about another $200 off our mortgage payment. That would be sweet!
