Try and find a 92-95 si trans
Its pretty much same gearing as ex trans only has a slightly shorter 5th gear. But even the regular d16z6 ex trans is better then the y8 tranny. Most people will debate that its the same but i've had both and the d16z6 tranny clearly has a shorter final drive. At 60 mphs im at 3 grand where at with the y8 at 60 i was more at 2500

anything prior to 92 in civics was cable thus hed have to convert to cable tranny and theres no benefit outta doing that. The older si trans were also longer gearing as well so really the only si tranny going after would be the 92-95 si since its still hydro

i knew exactly what it stood for, and i was also stating my opinion to the op.

Opinion or not i am curious as to why you would think 88-91 si trannys are good tho as to putting it in a 6th gen would be almost pointless as they are almost always higher mileage, would need a different clutch as they have a smaller input shaft, and most of all need to be converted to cable tranny which i dont think ive ever heard people doing Oh and they also are slightly longer gears. Unless your referring to a general whole but still then it woulda made more sense if you said 92-95 si trannys as thats what hes actually gonna be able to use. The only real good thing that people would even want the single cam si trans is if they are keeping the single cam in their ef but you almost always see people swap them as the single cams are pretty crappy in them

And for your sake bizneoeh so im not given another infraction for taking this off topic....To the OP....If you can find an 92-95 si trans def do it, your gonna love that shorter 5th on the highway so you dont have to downshift to pick up speed which is nice with a single cam lol, but if you cant the 92-95 ex trans or 96-00 trans will do just fine. Just whatever you do dont get the dx trans as you will probably hate those long gears, lol

well honestly, my opinion shouldn't matter to you so don't be curious. :D

88-95 si are the best d-series trannies. whether you have a cable or hyrdro, you have your pick.

Your right it doesnt matter, lol, but i was just trying to figure out why you made your assumption,
And yeah i guess 88-91 si trannys arent bad even if there gearing is longer then the hydro si trannys
But the OP has his answer so no point in dragging on this thread anymore
