98 civic aftermarket radio issue

Hey I have a 98 civic hatch that has an aftermarket radio. It came with the car when I bought it and has been installed professionally, its been working great all this time till about yesterday. First the lights surronding all of the buttons stop working and today the lcd light stop working as well the radi still plays music and you can still turn the volume down but it hhas no lights or display. I tried resetting it by unplugging the harness but nothing still the same. The brand of the radio is a pioneer I don't know the model number but its not that old and it has a motorized faceplate. Now the only time the lights light up is when I press the button to eject the cd, then everything lights up but as soon as I close it they all shut back off.

I don't what can be causing this and I really need to figure it out cause its annoying me thanks for the help.

could be bad contacts on the faceplate. if the faceplate comes off try cleaning the contact points with the eraser of a pencil.

+1...my kenwood does the same thing man...just dirty or worn contact points from the detachable face. If i press mine in the center firmly all lights work fine.

Do the cluster lights work?

Yes all of my other lights work its only the radio but I checked the radio out before I did anything and it just quit working all together so I guess its a new radio for me

did you do anything with your speakers? also did you check the fuse in the back of your radio after it quit working all together?

I upgraded the rear speaker but thats when I first got the car and it didn't affect anything the front speakers are still stock since I have other thing to pay for right now. The only other thing I did was I swapped clusters with my friend cause she has the tach and I didnt but I don't thing that can be a problem because I haven't heard anyone that has had the same issue after installing a different cluster. And I will check the fuse now to see whats up

Just checked the fuse behind the radio and its fine!!!!

Does the Red/Blk wire at the rear of the stereo have battery voltage?

also checked the interior fuse and they all checked out so I don't know what else it could be other then the radio just died on me

Yea but the radio doesn't want to close its stuck and I don't know how to get this face plate off this one has a motorized face that when you put it or eject a cd it slides down then out

Yes.

If this wire is broken or disconnected at the rear of the radio, the radio lights won't work.

not sure, it came with my car. hasnt been used since i drove it home from the used car dealership. its the sony xpold that walmart used to have for like $90. i already had a jvc for it when i got the car. i think it lights up white.
