oka so i figured out most of my turbo future. i have been reading non stop for countless hours the last few weeks everything about how a turbo works to the full how to install. i have started saving a portion of my check every week and i hope to be boosted by spring 2010.

i have set my hp goal to only about 180whp. (d series) so i can keep my internals. i work at a dealership and they said they could help me out with a tune.

i have read this line a million times
fast cheap reliable.. pick 2.. well i pick cheap and reliable.. speed doesnt matter to me at the moment. im gonna start off slow and take it from there.

i hear about the $600 turbos on ebay.. but not really for me. i was looking to spend about 1000 total. whether i have to part it myself or find a kit..

i found a site ssautochrome.com seems reliable.. but who knows just tryin to get the most reliable.. not the fastest.. out of the little money i will be spending.

and yes this will be my dd so just another reason speed is not one of the two i chose.

piece one together, but you will always spend more than you think you will. Search your ass off for the perfect deal, you'll know when to buy a certain part.. you can get lucky or just talk people down...

yes

how do i get the most out of the little i want to spend?? piece one together or a cheap kit?

Honestly, I think a brand-name turbo with like 10,000 miles would still be more reliable than an ebay knock-off. $1000 isn't really a lot to work with, but try to find a new/barely used brand-name turbo(Turbonetics, Garrett, HKS etc.) The rest of the parts shouldn't really make a difference weather they're new or used, especially with your horsepower goal...

Id look into getting a 15g kit from greddy, you can find those used all over the place. i just sold a kit like 3 months ago... 15g is good up to 250 and will spool quick as faaak
