welcome to the world of mechanics.... i go through stupid s**t like that almost once everyday.. there is always a car that ends up f**king you. try a bigger hammer next time and keep waling on it, if not like you said they have a separation tool you can use which actually works kinda nice but the best way is to just keep hammering on the knuckle
