I have two sets of nice 6.5" speakers, and neither will fit in the door panels without major surgery to both the door panel and the speaker. It looks like a spacer for a deeper speaker id doable, but there seems to be very limited height to work with. Biggest issue seems to be the way the speaker grills mount to the door panels themselves.
I bought a cheap set of Kenwood shallow mount 6.5s just to kill the dead space up front. I am not really digging them as I have an older pair of Boston Acoustics 6x9s in the rear which tend to bring out the glaring deficiencies in the cheapo Kenwoods. Lesson learned again. Cheap car audio sucks.
So, I am a bit of a picky ass when it comes to sound, and I don't really want to have to cut the car or the drivers up too much.
I don't really have much time to go out and try to audition different speakers that are available locally, sadly, and I don't have money to buy several sets to find one that I can live with.
Any suggestions form personal experiences?
