Im about to turbo my b18a1 i just freshend the motor everything is new in it. My problem is i dont know how much boost to run. i want the car to be quik but not blow up!!!! Im running a stock dsm turbo on it with 450cc injectors and i walbro 255 fuel pump. I want it too look like the turbo was on there stock also i was thinking about a stock side mount intercooler would that work alright or should i just get a nice one??

who ever tunes it will tell you based on his findings and every engine is different...how many miles on it? What stock DSM are you referring to? a FMIC will cool better than a SMIC anyday. and you want the turbo to look stock.. well, honda never had a boosted civic stock, so just go with the flow of the manifolds that are already been tested for flow and restrictions. trying to make a one off mani will hurt your #'s and your wallet.

first turbo build go simple. Log manifold, blue tops, 15g, and run it at about 8 and get it TUNED, if not it will blow up, maybe not at first but it wont last as long as if you do tune it.

it has 4000 miles on it and the first gen dsm turbo, i have all the welders and piping to mod my manifold so thats no big deal. But would the side mount intercooler work fine??? i dont want people knowing its turbod just by looking at the front of it.

Wouldnt i have to switch the car to obd1 and get hondata or something like it to tune the car??

yea a SMIC is fine since your not gonna really need a big ass FMIC since your not gonna add alot of power. and which turbo? the 1gs have two different turbos. 14g and 13b (i think thats right... i know the 13 is from a auto and the 14 is from the manual). so either way which turbo?

Or run a piggyback system like Emanage from Greddy. It's not the best, and doesn't have too many options...

My god people...SEARCH! Its not the amount of PSI a motor can handle. Its the amount of HORSEPOWER! 8psi on a t25 is different than 8psi on a gt35r is different than 8psi on a 13b is different than 8psi on a 16g, etc. Search search search. Then if you have questions after you've done your research, THEN ask it.

thats what i was thinking... if it blows then f**k it im already buildin a ls/ vtec that can actually handle boost i just wanted something that has a little bit of power till the other beast is done.. does anyone think i should change out the 450cc injectors for something bigger when i put my ls vtec in or should them be fine?

well if youre planning on building a more powerful motor later you'll definitely need bigger injectors. i would go with at least like a 650cc. i would think 440's would be nearly maxed out if your making 250whp so might as well do the new injectors now

actually i think 440 is right on par with 250whp. you want your duty cycle to be as close to 80% as possible.

:what:

i've never heard that. i know you don't want to exceed 80%, but get as close as possible seems kinda pointless. imo, i'd rather go overkill so there's room for improvement later
