VTEC or no VTEC?

I am going to be building a turbo D series and I was curious as to whether or not it would be a good idea to build it with VTEC or not, I want to build i reliable daily driven turbo motor right around 250-300 horsepower..

so what block and head would be best,

z6 platform??
y8 platform??
y7 platform??

I dont want the VTEC and BOOST to be too much for the motor to handle and make driving everyday a pain in the ass.

Thanks

your really asking this question?? the vtec isn't going to add too much to the motor, and it doesn't kick in until like 6200 RPM anyways so you wouldn't be using it all that often. I've had my b16 a little less than a year and I've only hit it maybe like 25 times and it's my DD. I usually don't hit it too often because of gas and my front end shakes hella bad.
so I would do vtec, it's always nice to have. and even if you build your motor a little bit you won't have to worry about "too much" power for the motor.
your going to want to build the internals a little bit for the boost anyways so having vtec is really going to be changing anything. as far as what platform to go with I dont really know much about the differences since when I wanted power I went DOHC but yeah. I'm sure someone on here can help you out with the boosted D portion of your questions.
hope that helps

a z6 or y8 with vitara pistons and eagle rods will handle 250-300 no problem

Fast / Reliable / Cheap << pick 2 and the 3rd is what its not... build it right, and youll have no worries.

:word: I really like that moto of yours. you should really get a turbo shirt or something made up. a turbo on the front, than that moto on the back. I'd buy it if my hatch was turboed.

Yes i know, Fast / Reliable / Cheap.... you cant have them all.... and i understand this.

And of course Fast / Reliable would be my picks... this isnt something that would happen over night this, will be something i do over the course of months..

I guess i will go with the y8 platform since you all say it will be fine on the motor.

Thanks

ok well since i am using the pistons from the vitara, i assume they are the same size as the ones in the D-series now? what compression are they??

And yes i live in knoxville, tennessee... and there are a bunch of red neck, back yard, ass-scratching, hill-billys down here that dont know what they have half the time, but its nice becuase young, educated people like myself can pretty much steal it right from under their nose.

Fast cheap and reliable can all happen if you do youre research. I hate when people say this.

Try to get a z6. They have better oil flow than the y7 and y8. The z6 crank has 2 oiling holes for the rods and the oil pump puts out more. The y7/y8 is do able but its better to have the added insurance of the z6.
