Ok so some of you all know that i was seeking a D series motor to build for boost, well i got some of it.

Today i picked up a D16Z6 head for $15...

I took the rocker arm assembly and the camshaft out tonight, but i am going to send it to the machine shop to have them check and see if it needs a valve job or not...

My question is what brand of ______ is best for a built/boosted d16z6.

1. Valves, springs, retainers
2. Cam and Cam Gear
3. Turbo Manifold ( I want to keep the P/S, so i would assume a log style manifold)
4. Intake Manifold
5. Injectors (Size)

And that should be enough for now... I would post and ask on turboD16 forums, but i cant register, i think its not working

heres the same reply:

well, i dont how much your budget is, id go with crower cams, springs and retainers..
Cometic HG .030
Rods - eagle, scat, etc.. i would keep the OE stroke IMO
As for the piping.. you can start off the turbo at 2.5" and have it open into a 3" when it gets to the pan then all the way back.. Greg at Go-Autoworks can fab this. Also can fab your manifold and dump w/o any fitment issues and great flow! they are also skilled in the mighty D.

Cam gears are matter of preference - AEM, Blox, Skunk, ect.. they all do the same thing. just dont buy ebay knock offs

You might as well get the whole autoworks kit for your build, comes with great WG,BOV, piping etccc.... that will fit the 1st time!

Just need injectors 440's or 550's and ECU and a upgraded clutch and mounts and dual core radiator

1. I'd go with skunk2 valvetrain. Great reputation, reliability and customer service.
2. Any 4 bolt cam gear. If you're swapping heads the timing will always be a little off..
3. Spoolinperformance.com makes great log and eve ram horn a/c compatible manifolds...
4. Wouldn't waste money on that unless you're shooting for some serious power...
5. Depends on your horsepower goal. Rule of thumb is horsepower goal+100=injector cc size. But too large is always betters than too small...

What turbo are you planning to run?

If your sending it to the shop I'd go ahead and get the valve job, cleaning, flat check done anyway while its there.
1.I'd go with supertech on the valvetrain parts.
2. It's really up to you, GE, Skunk, AEM. A cam gear would be one of the last things I purchased. Get it when you get a cam.
3.We do the log and ramhorn a/c compatible. How much power are you shooting for?
4. How much power are you shooting for? A cast Edelbrock or Skunk (or stock depending on your goal) will be fine. A Golden Eagle would be great if it is in the budget,

Big thanks, we definitely can put the whole kit/setup together. We do more SOHC setups than anything.
