-10 celcius here, wasn't the coldest to date though and that makes it 14 degrees fahrenheit. Over in Winnipeg, they got -40 celcius, which makes it -40 fahrenheit

see this i dont understand...

it couldbe 0 degrees celcius... meaning 32 degrees Fahrenheit...

but as it gets colder the numbers start to catch up... -40 is the same in both scales? i dont get it.

Think of it this way. One degree Fahrenheit (F) is a smaller temperature unit than one degree Celsius (C), and both scales have an identical temperature value at -40 degrees (-40F = -40C). To illustrate this idea, water freezes at 32F or 0C. Therefore, there are 72 degrees of Fahrenheit between -40F and the freezing point of water, whereas there are only 40 degrees of Celsius between -40C and the freezing points of water.

its not too bad here now but when I was in Edmonton before Christmas it was -46.1 C, or -58.4 with the windchill (-50.8F, -73.1F) at the airport.....second coldest place on earth next to somewhere in Siberia. So uhh anything else in this thread is damn near tropical!

Talk about shrinkage  Guess I should be thankful for my somewhat "warmer" temps.

Why is there two different ones anyway? WTH what a waste of time haha
There's F and C because america had to be different and throw out the already useful (and perfectly acceptable) scales for everything.

(metric vs standard, miles vs kilometers, 12 hour clock vs 24 hours clock, the list goes on)

15* here in Brighton, Co tonight. Quite warm out.

They're predicting negatives for wed/thurs but havent made up their mind on what it will actually be yet.
