hey guys hows it going. I'm thinking that I want a decent sound system for my ek. So far i have the 4 stock speakers swaped w pioneer 3 ways and a pioneer head unit just 200 watts tho. I mean the sound is great and im happy witht he quality but i just need some more bass. cuz small 6.5 inches w the bass all the way up just dont satisfy me u know. haha. So I'm looking at geting maybe a 400 watt 10 inch sub to put in the trunk.
So what do i need to get some decent bass. A sub (prefferably enclosed) and an amp im guessing. But what about powered subs with the amp allready enclosed in the sub box. Is the wireing difficult if i were to get a standard sub and amp. Lol i dont really know what im asking. I guess: What do i need to get a good bass setup?

just get a Alpine Type R in a Ported Box and get atleast a 500d mono block amp. But a 400watt, should do the trick too.

First of all turn the bass down on your current set up, those speakers are not meant for bass, so turning that all the way up is not good on them.

Second, don't go with a sub/amp combo in the same box if you want quality.....

Third, no one here is going to tell you the perfect set up, no matter what... Because it is all about taste, preference, wallet and simply how far you want to go.... In my Civic I have ran a ton of s**t... Ran 2 10" Alpine Type R's in a vented box with a Audiobahn 1200watt Amp... Not bad.. It worked.... It hit hard... I also had 2 12" 1230 Watt Infinity's with A Rockford Fosgate Amp... That one hit hard but it was one of the cleanest systems I had....

My current Set up is 1 12" 5000Watt Massive Sub... This thing POUNDS like no other... But it is HEAVY...

I have ran mostly 2 12"s they are the best in my opinion... My FAVORITE is JL Audio, I miss my W6's...

Point being is you can run almost anything... But be careful, people will break in and jack your s**t quick......

When you run subs, all you do is find a good spot to ground the amp as close to it as you can, then you run the power to the battery, put the fuse by the battery at a easy spot to get to... then you run your RCA's and your Remote wire to your Deck and hook them up... Then secure your amp and wire that baby up... Make sure to run your power wire on one side of the car and run the RCA's on the other side of the car to prevent noise....

Good Luck

^^ Exactly. I went from one 10" Alpine type E, to two 12" type R's, to nothing.

I am now rocking out with a 10" MTX, everything powered by my 5 channel Alpine amp.

also what kind of bass are you looking for? responsive or just loud as h***? i personally like the responsive 8's. it doesn't raddle your car to pieces. also if you don't have a custom box you are going to have to drill holes in your trunk or rig something so that they don't bounce around. when i have some money (lol) i'm going for two
Kicker Solo-Baric L7 8's in custom boxes. Those are loud and responsive. but its all up to personaly preference. good luck.

I got 2 15" rockford fosgates and a 600 watt mono alpine amp and 1 power cap , with takes up the back of my 1990 honda civic dx hatchback . I also have a kenwood head unit and 2 6.5 boss composet speakers in the doors , and the way I have set up i can play rock and then go to rap without changing my settings

Right now all i have is a pionere deck and 3 way speakers through out,but i have 2 10's mephis's and a rockford fosgate amp waiting for a ported box and cap.

2 10's sound good to me and pound depending on brand and amp and settings. Like my pionere speakers pound harder than my friends pep boys subs. If your buying subs and want them to sound good dont skimp on quality.

If you wanna save some money and get the best bang for the buck, look at the older rockfords. He or hex series.

Well like some guys said. It's all about taste and preference.
I'm only running two 10" Type E's in a huge ported box with an 800W Sony XPlod amp. Sounds good enough for me, didn't want insane bass but these provide all the bass I need/want.
So it's all about taste and preference and definitely wallet.

:word:

My friend had a 13w7 on a 1000/1

I had a DD 9012 getting 900rms from a hifonics amp in a similar box.

My system hit harder and was a bit louder, at nearly half the cost.
the 9012 doesn't sound better though
