How to know if my head warped?

Recently my car got a bit too hot and I think I burnt the head gasket. I've been told that maybe this could lead to warping, and I'm thinking of removing the head but I'm not sure how to know if the head got warped. I'm getting desperate because I've been looking for another head without any luck.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Be sure to use a precision straight edge, not some chap carpenters T square.

You can also take it to a machine shop and for a small fee they can tell you. Alot of times if you call ahead on something small like that they can do it quickly while you wait.

Great post! Thanks RonJ and thanks for the advice io_303. I'll go change in a sec and try this.

I just removed the valve cover and everything is covered in this thick cream colored gunk...is this normal?

That's the sign of a blown head gasket. There's coolant mixed with the engine oil.

Thanks! And RonJ, I'm downloading the manual from that site on your sig. Is that the same thing you linked me to in the pictures?
