Yea, everyone has tried that rounte "on a budget" and 99% have replaced most of all of the parts thus spending double to do it right the 1st time.
so, according to you, FMIC, charge piping, bov, nice oil lines, injectors and a tune and your done ehh.. lets do the math here since i have seen this being preached time and time again.
Fuel Pump and injectors - 300
FMIC - 100
piping- 100
BOV - 100
wastegate- 225
oil feed lines - 50-75
drain line - 45
flanges for oil lines- 50
couplers - 50
clamps - 25
cheap cast mani - 100
ebay turbo - 200
custom fit downpipe 200
custom dump tube - 50-80
$100 for misc clamps, hoses, etc
another 200 or so for welding and any type of fitment
= 1905 for the high price
recommended stuff:
boost gauge - 50
oil pressure gauge- 50
radiator - 200
fan - 45
Im still waiting to see what and where all these parts are coming from.
So, you might be the one person who is thrifty finding parts from friends and can make it work. But what about the noob who has no clue and winds up looking at ebay kits (which are the cheapest kits around) then has to pay to get it installed, fixed, then replaced.
OP: like i said, Do it right the first time unless you want to be fixing your car every weekend. Why gamble with crap that you hope wont break over a few extra bucks for reliability and support after the sale.
