okay, why is it commonly called an EK if its not right? when its an EJ6 and they didnt make coupes in japan
Its just a way to generalize a generation with their overseas counterparts.
4th gen = EF
5th gen = EG
6th gen = EK

oh okay gotcha ! so technically they are wrong, there is no such thing as a JDM Coupe, coupes were made in us and shipped there, thats why they are EJ6 not EK. ppl just call them EK cuz they were shipped there?

Yes, they have JDM '96-'00 coupes. They were EJ7s with a D16A. The car was called a Civic Coupe STD. They don't appear to be very common.

JDM doesn't mean the car was built in Japan and USDM doesn't mean the car was built in the US. It means the car was meant for original sale in that market.

For example, an Integra that starts with JHMDC4 could be an Integra built in Japan, but for the US market.

But you're right, your car is an EJ6. So if you had a "I <3 My EJ6" sticker that would be perfect. EKs were hatches and sedans overseas only. Not all JDM '96-'00 Civics are EKs and not all EKs are JDM '96-'00 Civics either.

Hope this helps.

Are you wrong??? It says EK.... Your car isn't an EK...

Alright, just to clear up some confusion...EK is the japanese chassis...people in the US call it an EK. They've been doing it for a while, even though their car is really an EJ.

To clarify, there are EKs in plenty of countries, just not Japan.

There are also 6th gen Civics sold in Japan that are not EKs.

This might help for anyone who is curious.
