subaru is backing out of the wrc. thats why he switched.

yea the fiesta is not currently a car tested by the WRC.. and FIA.. so.. thats why he is not able to use it. hopefully they will put it through testing this year and be ready for next year... since this is the first launch of the fiesta in over 15 years to the north american market... it needs to prove its worthiness.

if it were me... id say use the much proven focus RS... for your first year... instead of a car that you have no idea how it will feel or perform.. it could prove to be a piece of s**t... we just wont know.

its better to put a seasoned rally veteran in a car we know nothing about... in a circuit that he knows all about... than to put a brand new driver in a car he knows nothing about in a circuit he knows nothing about.... outcome... last place... and a very upset sponsor and fan base...

so... its good that ford wants to introduce a new car.. and i think that doing it in rally america will prove worthy... than in the WRC... where competition in the WRC is EXTREMELY competitive... and teams are not very friendly towards eachother...

rally america is essentially a bunch of friends...

same as Rhys Millen in the hyundai genisis.... he took a car we know nothing about... and turned it into an awesome car.

i feel ken block will do the same in the fiesta.

i think they are making the right move here making him use the RS in the WRC... gotta crawl before you can walk.

subaru has been backed out for about a year... there were no subaru factory cars last year... there were private entries...

majority of WRC drivers use the Citroen

and ken block switched to ford... for rally america because subaru didnt extend his contract. frankly... serves him right..

you see travis pastrana... his car is usually blue.. with subaru plastered all over it. ken block chose the monster energy theme along with his trademark DC shoes.

originally.. ken was not going to compete in rally america because he "lost his ride"

but since monster energy and ford struck a deal with block to run in WRC... im sure he had an influence with them launching in rally america. as you may know... rally america open class is dominated by subarus. nice to see a change...

i think this is enough... im guessing subaru didnt offer him the contract he liked...

and no big name company is going to take a loss saying they didnt offer him a contract... they rather it just be the drivers decision in order to save thier name.

and im not sure why rally america isnt televised... they should televise it... it would completely open up the sport and the fan base.

everyone who drives a subaru knows who ken block is.. ans what he does. most people who drive an impreza know what rally america is..

i would like to go to rally america events... but... the closest one to me is STPR... and its in the worst part of the year... unpredictable weather and an extremely remote location of PA.. draws thousands of people each year... clogging up the 2 lane roads... just no way will you catch me stuck in 4 hours of traffic to go from stage to stage.

you want to bring something up in the RA mettings... bring up putting it on TV. speed channel has enough room as they will consistenly run 9 hours of barrent jackson reruns on saturday afternoons...

or even ESPN... im sure noone still wants to see the 2006 PBA championships any more.. or world poker tour from some hole in the wall casino...

i caught USA running the DEW tour on sunday that aired on saturday on NBC... and USA can run 12-13 hours of HOUSE reruns everyday... im sure they can squeeze in atleast a half hour of highlights...
