A higher capacity alternator might help... I upgraded mine when I put in a system and have not had any problem.

do you turn off your stereo before you turn the car off? That way when you turn the car on you have to actually turn the stereo on everytime? I used to leave mine on, and when I turned the car on the stereo would come on right away. was told not to do this because the alternator and battery had to work extra hard to start the amp right away and it ended up burning up my alternator.

is there anyway i can re-wirre it not to just the battery but to something else? it seems kinda sketchy just going straight to the battery like that.

not at all because the remote wire only allows the amp to turn on when the head unit is on

so like in the post above us where he said to turn my radio off before shutting the car off, that means the amp will only go on when i turn the radio on? or everytime i start the car?

Im thinkiing if I just turn my radio off before i shut off my car and when i start it up then power the radio i wont have this problem of battery draining?

The "radio" or headset is just a receiver an will shut off by itself. The main thing is to attach your blue remote control wire from the headunit to the amp. If not, your amp will stay connected to your battery and drain it. I tried to simplify it a bit.
So if all you have are the RCA plugs going from your headunit or radio to your amp, your amp is staying on and connected to your battery even when the car is off.

So what do i do? unplug the wire that goes from my radio to my amp?

So I thnik I found the problem

"Sounds like the amp remote turn on wire is hooked to a constant power source causing your amp to stay on all of the time and killing your battery.
This wire should be blue or blue with a white strip, this runs from the remote terminal on your amp to the remote turn on wire on the back of the radio, this wire should also be blue with a white strip."

So that is true with mine, how would i go about making it so the amp doesn't stay on while the car is off?
-Also, I had the car running for 2 hours with the amp on and then i decided to shut it off and then it died that could be the reason?

Run a remote line from your amp to your headunit. If your bought an amp kit it would be included. If not, you could use regular speaker wire. Cut about 15-20 feet and run it from your amp to your headunit. I run it with the rca cables. This wire is your remote turn-on.

Your amp was still on. Usually when I go cruise for 2 hours and bump, I set my levels way up, which requires more juice from the battery. Install your remote turnon and try it. Or just pull the power from your amp everytime you get out. Same difference, more work in the long run.

sounds like ur remote wire is wired wrong. its keepin the amp on and not turing off, or also it can be the amp it self that might have blown the remote link. this can keep the amp on and kill the battery. did u do the wire install yourself? PM if anything i can walk you though it

its not your alternator cause if its a bad one the car will die while your driving
False information.

Your car will run as long as it has power from the battery. The alternator went out in one of my company trucks which is a diesel (meaning it has 2 batteries). I drove it 50 miles during the day and the truck never died once. Matter of fact it is sitting on the side of my shop and I have moved it twice since. Alternator is still shot.

is there anyway i can re-wirre it not to just the battery but to something else? it seems kinda sketchy just going straight to the battery like that.
It is fine straight to the battery as long as it has it's own fuse. I would unplug it and wouldn't do anything else until you hook one up. If the wire comes off your amp and grounds out it will cause some major damage and could lead to injury.

I can't believe no one has said anything about that hacked up battery connection.

Your positive connection is very corroded and is terrible. I would replace the main positive wire, put a fuse on your amp power wire, connect the amp power wire correctly instead of just shoving it on there and for god sakes clean the terminal post. It also looks like your negative wire is hacked all to hell as well. I would replace that too.

I am willing to put money on the fact that your problem is your connection. A car that is running fine doesn't just have a dead battery after coming out of a store like that, jumping it, and then it is fine again. You have a bad connection. Plain and simple.

If your battery is bad, it will continue to be dead over night or after sitting.

If your alternator is bad your battery won't hold a charge and jumping it will only give you a limited amount of juice.

If you have a bad connection, it will cause it not to start, then when you go and hook it up to jumper cables thinking that is what you need, you are clamping the connection back for a moment. Give it some time and the connection will work loose again and you will be stranded. It has nothing to do with taking your system out or leaving it in.

If your amp is draining the battery while sitting, it will happen over night or over time, but not instantly or within a matter of minutes.

See thisis what I said I brought my uncle down to my car, hes a good guy when it comes to cars, he checked it out told me to take all the acid off my battery, with a cleaner; and redo the connection since it was a horrible connection he practlly pulled off the power wire from the battery. I also have a Fuse that is on that power wire so yeah..

thats what ima do buy a battery terminal cleaner from autozone and buy a clamp tool where i put the wire in the little clamp clamp it and then place it between the battery and the bolt.

You can clean the battery terminal with a mixture of baking soda and water. Works like a charm and easy/cheap to get a hold of.
