Low goal, but how to make it

Ok as some of you may know, mainly those who voted in my poll I just got a B18b1 and I plan on building it over the next 6 months in my spare time and hopefully drop it in the car by September.

I know the motors stock specs. of having 140hp, and originally that was my goal, just to rebuild the thing back to stock and drop it into my del sol and call it good, but now I got thinking about the whole power to weight ratio and now I think I have a new goal but I dont have any idea where to start as well...I have never even touched a b series before nor have I ever done more then a mini me swap. But the new goal is to make 225hp without going to a turbo, nitrous or anything else like that. The reason why I want that number is to get a power to weight ratio, with me and my system in the car to be 1 to 12( 1 hp for every 12 lbs) and if at all possible I would like to keep this under $1200 because I still need to by a tranny motor mounts shift linkage ect.

I thank you all in advance for help
and please dont try to sell me anything as I don got a dime to my name at the moment.

You're absolutely not going to make 225whp NA with $1200, especially with an LS. Sorry to burst your bubble but it's not happening.

If you're going NA and want that kind of power on the cheap, an H22, h23/vtec, or Gswap is going to be your best bet for the most power on the cheap.

I hate to break it to you but your LS doesn't have 140hp stock even if the specs do say that. I say more like 120hp if that.

my friend made like 230hp on his ALL MOTOR b18 but he had it bored out and sleeved to a 2.0 and not to mention the rest of the build. I think he spent over $10k on the motor so yeah, $1200 isn't going to do s**t.

You could MAYBE hit 140 WHP (keep in mind, stock ratings are crank HP) with $1200 on top of what the motor swap costs.

But that would be pushing it.

My H made 240whp, 171wtq with relatively low compression for an N/A build and I've got $3000 strictly into the internals of the motor like pistons/rods, sleeves, all of the head components (does not include clutch, timing belt, gaskets, valve cover, breathers, intake/exhaust manifolds, throttle body, hondata, injectors, regulator, fuel pump, radiator, tranny, mounts, wiring, misc. sensors, etc. all of the external stuff I've probably got another $2500-$3000 into). It's not a cheap game to be playing, It takes $$$$ to make power N/A

Ok. what motors have interchangeable parts with a obd1 b18b1 without having to get anything machined/milled down. and what head is usually used to make a ls vtec or something like that?

That my friend, has been answered hundreds of times.

The search feature should turn up tons of results on those questions there. ;)

I just put it in the same thread to not take up more room on the forums...and to keep all the information I needed in one place instead of having to jump between multiple websites and web pages for information you guys seem to know off the top of your heads...

The internet has these things called bookmarks so you can get to those pages you wanted to go back to.

And guess how we learned?

Jumping between pages, bookmarking them, reading them and remembering them.

The way I always look at it --- when you were (or if you still are) in school, does your teacher hand you the text book, and the essay sheet/questions and say "oh, and here's the answers" or "read these pages to find your answers".

Start reading ;)

You don't need to make another thread, there are already plenty out there on this subject. Hell if you want, when you find the info you're looking for in other places come back here and post those links. That way other people can reference this thread in the future, as well as yourself.
