The point of a help forum

Isn't the point of having forums to help other people with their questions when they don't know the answer to when you yourself know? When you are looking for information and all you can ever find is people that keep on saying search does that ever help anyone in the long run? No it doesn't, all it does is piss people off because they ask a question that they know people know the answer to but all the ever get told is to search for the answer, when in the end it does almost no good. This whole telling the person to search just waists time, when it might take a whole minute out of your life to give them an answer, where as you just feel the need to say search instead of spending that minute to help out another enthusiast. At least on Club Integra unlike here they actually take the step to answer the question instead of being all retarded and no wanting to actually help someone out that wants a simple answer...so yes I am done complaining, feel free to tell me how pointless this was, how this doesn't serve a purpose, or whatever else you think. I really don't care...

ive had that, it gets better after a while. but not much. the first few that post are usually dicks, then someone actually does help. SGGilmo helped me out a lot. but he doesnt get on here as much know that he has the lude. and RonJ helps everyone. i agree with you on the search. ive tried searching for s**t and get 100 threads of s**t that has nothing to do with what i am searching. there are a lot on here that know the answer and post it. but there are enough assholes that just post "search" instead of just telling you.

What it comes down to is the standards of your section moderator. Some section moderators don't think that it's a big deal.. others do not allow posts of "search." If I see a post in 7th gen section that tells the OP to search and contains no helpful information in it, it gets deleted.

If it's really bugging you - send a PM to your generation section moderator noting your concern. No promises that anything will change, but if enough people want a change in that particular section, it probably will.

we tell people to search because they are too damn lazy to do thier homework.

everyone here that says search.... knows the answer... but they would like the end user to find it for themselves... same as we all did it back in the day. we all started out knowing nothing about our cars... thats why we came here. and we searched. and posted information we have found.. these forums are not for us to tell you how to spend your money.... or what engine to put in your car...

these forums were designed to troubleshoot problems. and thats what we do best.

if you are in the middle of an H22 swap in your 91 civic... and you cant get it started... then.. we will come to the rescue...

but we wont tell you if the H22 is better than the B18... because there is too much debate on it. that there is no clear answer. everyone has different views.

and we wont tell you if you should go NA or boost... because... there is a significant price difference in the two...

the true reason we tell folks to search....

becasue we know... that they are just kids with dreams. dreams that will either come true... or dreams that will diminish in a year...

after you have been here for a while... and shown that you are interested in the car... and if you actually participate in troubleshooting... then we will for sure lend a hand in your decision... but dont expect us to do the homework for you... we have done ours... and we do not like to do yours.

if you cant take the time to search a little... or even just read a few threads... then why do you expect us to jump to your needs and answer your questions for you? this shows us you are not dedicated to your car... and all you care about is making it into the neighbor hood ricer crowd with your bullshit body kit.. and your ridiculous 17" rims...

to be completely honest about looks of a car.... most of the people here dont care much for body kits... or big ass rims. or wings.. or fart cans.

we care about clean.... well thought out cars. with things that flow.

your car with a body kit, wing, fart can, and 17s on it... means nothing to us if its an automatic... and no power mods. a CAI.... is not a power mod.

^^ very accurate and true. i was told that you should not learn the answers to questions, but how to find the answers to those questions, that way you will always be able to find an answer. something like that, not sure of the exact words... but the point of it was basically " give a man a fish, feed him for a day... teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime" so they are teaching you to fish for answers.

His point being that if you're not willing to take the time to research it yourself, then you're probably your neighborhood ricer who wants to do said mods to his automatic car. whats even more irritating.... them starting a question... and never returning to tell us how it worked out..

or they start a help thread... and a day later start another one because nobody posted in the other one... or... there is another problem related to the first problem
